Do you think Damara's hair chopsticks were purposely shaped like the Aries symbol because she represents Aries?
Do they look like the Aries Symbol? Kinda but, not really that much. Hmm.
Do they look like the Aries Symbol? Kinda but, not really that much. Hmm.
“Hailing from the eastern provinces, she migrated across the seas and settled near the forest concealing Rufioh’s guild.“
Oh my god, Cheesy.
Can you classpect the STRONGEST touhou character aka Cirno?
What is with the Cirno Asks right now? She’s obviously the Baka of Nine though.
Okay no more seriously, hmm… Hard to tell honestly. Maybe the Maid of Hope? She seems definitely Active, and I like the pun with how she’d ‘make believe’ that she’s the strongest. She definitely ticks some Hope boxes like making a whole story around herself- In her case, about being the Strongest there is. Hmmm.. Not sure though. I may just not know enough about her.
I mean, if you’re looking at Amisia’s horns being shaped like an arrow, that’s kind of a bit of a stretch, it seems more like a hook or a sideways arrow- Which then you can make the argument Zebruh’s are an arrow pointing down, with the flat end going upwards.
Either way though, uh. Zebruh’s horns are still. Indigo themed.
You know.
:I
I mean. She’s a 14 year old amateur veterinarian in the 90′s, I don’t know how readily available Equine Anatomy was on the Internet around then, or how much of a specific… Interest she’d have in that stuff, even without adult supervision.
… Wait forget I said anything, there’s a huge naked Musclebeast Statue outside the Manor. Jake Harley, my boy, why do you do this. :I
Oh, anon, we all know. All of us know. The Devs know. It was most certainly intentional. We just prefer to not talk about it.
Because he was a wildcard and could mess everything up.
They’d be more active, yes. Remember- Jade’s LIVED on Prospit most of her life. Even with another Witch of Space from Prospit, Jade’s spent an INSANE amount of time in Prospit, since Vriska put her to sleep often. Derse influences activity. Prospit influences passivity. If you dream in the Moons, you’re likely to pick up on little bits and pieces of the culture there. So being more active-acting than Jade at the beginning of the Story is. Easy for a Witch.
I don’t quite think that’s going to happen at all.
I feel it just doesn’t quite fit the themes of Homestuck, that Joey and Jude would be separated forever.
I mean, he literally lives next to the Frog Temple with all the code for SBURB, and has both access to SBURB and Alternian stuff at different points in his life, it’s really not difficult to see how he’d get in and out of the Session.
not just sometimes, that’s literally what he is and because he stands for all opposites, he isn’t stuck between effectiveness and ineffectivess, since ineffectiveness in it’s nature never manifests, it is literally *ineffective*,
It is things not happening, versus things happening, so something that doesnt happen has no power against the things that do happen, letting unbridled effectiveness unfold wherever it pleases. They are unique opposites that by nature do not cancel each other out.
This is what Abraxas is all about and why he is a god, the ultimate god guy person thing. he need only imagine something for it to become reality because as the culmination of all opposites, usually all opposites cancel each other out, so his power is nothing except effectiveness, since that’s the only thing that manifests in the face of its opposite
but yes since he is literally everything in one being, he is the most truly powerful (yalda only believes he is the biggest bad aruund because he is either ignorant of Abraxas’s existence, or is directly malevolent against him, depending on the tale, but homestucks yalda seems to be the ignorant one)
but this means that as a denizen in nature he is whatever the player can need him to be, representing them perfectly like how Karkat described for himself, but the thing that makes me think that its Abraxas the most is Karkat saying how he’s the opposite of Yalda, and Yaldabaoth and Abraxas are opposed as the fake ultimate and the true ultimate creator, everything Yaldabaoth does is just a sham imitation of what Abraxas is
Abraxas creates all things from himself and permeates all of a reality of like while the facets of himself manifest as varying aeons of a perfect reality
Yalda tries to imitate this by creating our material realm in which he permeates throughout and this is gnosticism’s explanation for why our realm is dark and imperfect in nature, a cheap shitty imitation, think how like Homosuck is to Homestuck
So Karkat saying the denizen opposite of Yaldabaoth, when usually you would assume that was Echidna, but he’s clearly meaning someone else, makes me think he means Abraxas. Those three Echidna, Yaldabaoth and Abraxas are closely tied together symbolically in homestuck, especially when you see the Echidna/Sophia parallels, they are the 3 denizens directly relating to gnosticism and to eachother, so when soeone mentions one while describing another, i tend to them of them 3, so it’s perfect as well that as Yaldabaoth is represented as all powerful and for the strongest players, Abraxas would be represented seemingly first as the opposite, for the ‘weakest’ players, but in reality he is truly the Denizen of the actual strongest players, even if they themselves do not see it yet
Perfect for someone like Karkat and Jake
just think of it like them being “Strong in the real way” yknow?
I had not considered the Sophia/Echidna Parallels, but holy fuck yes, I love it.
Light Weaponry is always a fun thing for Maids and Sylphs of Light!
Hard to say, since ‘Space’ isn’t exactly what’s going on in the Furthest Ring, nor is ‘Time’, but it may work. Really though, any Seer may work.
That’s a bit of a literal reaching for the ‘Innovator’ thing, really. As for the familiar, maybe? It’s a possibility. Or at least a splinter of their self.
The Cherubs sit at the very core of Homestuck’s entire narrative, they’re the centerpiece around which everything else revolves, really. A Tyrant whose Soul spreads like a plague, destroying everything in its path, and taken down in the end, and a Martyr, who spends all her life suffering, only to reach true happiness in the end. Bringing her back from the awful grasp of her brother’s death is a big middle finger to Caliborn’s narrative.
Also everyone loves Callie. If you think having Roxy’s Alien GF be alive is not important enough, then we’ve got a big disparity on what each of us consider important.
I honestly have no idea. “They switch back and live the rest of their lives normally” and “They stay on their respective worlds” doesn’t exactly sound like a major outcome, there’s something more underlying the narrative of Hiveswap that I can’t quite predict. The Portals can’t reach the 0 Countdown and Destroy the Planets, because we know they’re still good and there when Homestuck starts- And the Rebellion cannot be successful, since everything is the way it is on Friendsim when Homestuck starts.
No, I think the Ending of Hiveswap is going to be something more major we’ve not quite thought about yet. Will it be like some speculate and they will all go to Earth-C together? Will they get transported somewhere else? What about all the Trollcall Cinnamon Rolls? We’re missing a piece of the Hiveswap Puzzle, and I’m looking forward to seeing what it is.
Breath Players aren’t willing Leaders usually- They can be, but they Lead through Example. Remember John’s talk? “I’m not their leader! I’m their friend.” He didn’t tell everyone what to do or arrange anything- He just did his thing for a while and somehow got so overpowered everyone started to look up to him and follow in his footsteps.
Someone MADE of Breath? Made of Detachment? They’d be unlikely to interact much with the group at all, and their actions would be what makes them follow them.
They’re Stealers through Space. They’d definitely use portals to yoink stuff from others.
By definition, every Space Player is more concerned with physical stuff than other Aspects.
(2/3) in other aspects. just because they didn’t get to fight cooly like the condesce and jack teams doesn’t invalidate everything they’ve gone through and the developments that are meaningful to themselves. it’s hard to put it into words but, callie just needed to be herself and live. she did play a major role prior to collide, the alphas only met thanks to her! but roxy didn’t need a reason, she didn’t need to consider callie’s worth to the narrative to bring her back to life
(3/3) i think the message was pretty intentional in the narrative itself too. there’s something i like to call the vriska theory of revelancy, when you tear into the story and decide which one deserves to live based on their usefulness. and we’ve observed it to be a pretty cruel thing when it was done in the story. homestuck is multifaceted and you can’t decide something like that because there’s always things you haven’t seen is what i think!
Yeah exactly- The narrative pushes very heavily the idea that your will is important and having other people impose themselves on you selfishly is evil. You don’t need to be use of a cause as long as you support those you care about and try to live your life and better yourself without being oppressive of others- And Callie really is the embodiment of all of this. She’s the Fandom, a creator of Fanart, of Theories, she loves everyone so much, of course she was going to live in the end.
I mean, no Trizza is definitely done for in some capacity, even if she doesn’t die in Hiveswap, Condy is known to kill Heiresses once they pose a threat, so like, she’s very much Dead or at the very least Exiled by the time Homestuck begins. Still, it could happen in a million different ways.
I meant the ‘Innovator’ part, the big part of the Witch is Change, ‘Innovation’ is kind of the title Taz suggested for them, but I’m not quite sure if ‘Innovating’ works as well.
No, John’s also deals with Time and more Meta things, just think with Portals.
Remember, the Rogue and Bard on D&D are more Literal, the Rogue and Bard on Homestuck are more Symbolic.
She found true happiness with GO! Terezi.
If I recall there was already a bit of a decline by Caliborn: Enter? At least I recall coming in and it seemed like the Fandom had already had its peak a little bit previously, a lot of people actually dislike the Alphas and lost interest because the story pulled back to these new characters after all that happened in Cascade. Even then, the Fandom was still going relatively strong, it was more the Pauses that did it. On two fronts- First, with the lack of updates, some Serial Readers just dropped off, and then, when the Updates started to happen again, a lot of people had forgotten certain points and seemed to dislike what happened next on the principle that it didn’t make sense narratively because the things that put them in context happened like, a year ago.
Time’s another factor here, most of the bulk of the Fandom was Teens. As time progressed, they grew up. Someone reading along for the Trolls and the Alphas in 2010-2011 would’ve spent the same amount, say they are 14 years old by the times the Alphas are introduced. They’ll be 16 when Caliborn takes over the narrative, and 17 during the Game Over update, and already 18 by the time the comic ends. 4 Years are a long time for people to remember thing, and a lot of people are nostalgic of what happened, but either don’t have the time to get back into it, or simply don’t enjoy what they used to enjoy anymore.
Combine that with a negative backlash to the Fandom because whenever something gets too popular means it’s cringey and irredeemable lately, and you have yourself a dropping audience cocktail.
It’s hard to critique Homestuck, because it takes from so many different things, and at the same time, it’s weirdly unique. What do you compare it to? Do you go section by section and see how each part of it holds up individually? Do you take it all as a whole? Narratively speaking, Homestuck has a solid base and foundation of what it wants to be, and it sticks to it. Hussie in general gets more inclusive and open as the story goes on too, and it shows in the themes he explores later on.
There’s a lot of positive and negative you can take from Homestuck, but if I had to distil the Best and the Worst of it… I would say from a totally Blind perspective, the worst part of Homestuck may be its length- A lot of people are put-off by the behemoth that is Homestuck. The best, though, is definitely its depth. Character-wise and Story-wise, the longer you stick, the more you start to find little things that connect together and make sense of other things. If you’re looking for it, you can find a lot of interesting details on a re-read specially.
Like, one and a half I’d say? Plus checking out a shit ton of Liveblogs.
Time is weird because technically speaking the Furthest Ring should have no concept of Time, and there may still be the possibility of you being in an area of the Furthest Ring that was temporally locked further back than the ‘current’ time.
That being said?
Everything’s breaking apart, Jim. Dream Bubbles aren’t going to last, if there’s any left at all.
The Echidna Situation is weird with Aranea because there’s the implication that she may have been her Denizen- But it’s never outright stated. She says about “Speaking” with Echidna, but never about ‘My Denizen’, and it thematically fits for her to be the Space Denizen. On top of that, Aranea’s way of telling stories can be misleading. She could’ve had the idea to consult with Echidna, and have gone ask her like Kanaya and Karkat went to see her, but explains it kinda putting herself in the spotlight.
The Furthest Ring is an extra-Universal Space, it’s the chaotic mess between Universes. The Genesis Frog holds the entirety of the Earth-C Universe, and every single Alternate Timeline of said Universes, as well as Post-Scratch versions of said Universe if there were ever to be a Scratch affecting it. Terezi just went back through the Door to the Session, and from there to the Furthest Ring, all she has to do once she finds Vriska (IF she finds her Alive), is to go back to the Session. Sprites are just Sprites, there’s nothing there to do with Dream Bubbles or anything.
You wanna talk about theories, you wanna talk about THEORIES? I’ve been DYING to talk about theories. I’ve got BOXES full of theories!

Okay Pepe Silvia jokes aside, look at this motherfucker.

This thing has been my BANE for a long while because there’s SOMETHING to it we don’t know about but it’s so specific I can’t even fathom what it is. Not only me, OD and his Discord Server, we’ve been looking at this thing every possible way but there’s nothing… Conclusive. Like, apparently the Aspects that are close to each other do have enough in common that questions in the Quiz grant points to them as well? We tried seeing if there was something with the order, with the elements of triads of Aspects, the similitudes, making triangles and squares connecting and comparing to the Zodiac, cardinality, EVERYTHING.
It’s. Been a frustrating endeavor. It feels like we’re missing one or two pieces, but it’s SO CLOSE. But nope. Nothing major so far-
OH, WAIT, no there was ONE thing that I was slightly confident about, but that also never went anywhere, and it has to do with the pattern…

This is the Alchemy, Transportalizer, Appearifier and Sendificator sigils overlaid on top of the Aspect Wheel. I’m not quite sure about the Transportalizer, Appearifier and Sendificator, but the one on the Alchemiter fits really nicely on top and could have something to do. What does this mean? I have no clue! Yet again!

Buuuut it may be something? Maybe?
Specially because there’s no concept of time, there’s likely no such thing as a Beginning. There is, however, an End- Because LE’s Cracks actually, paradoxically, create landmarks that stabilize the flow of Time and Space, and we know how that ‘ends’.
Roxy, Jade, Nepeta, Kanaya, mainly. Buuuut really I love all of them.
It’s likely there weren’t several clocks, just one that changed, and Doc repairs the Clock right after beating Jack up and fixing the place up. Really the clocks are just a representation of the God Tier process, and I still think they just reflect what’s going on, rather than literally deciding it- Hence why I believe Jack didn’t have anything to do with Vriska’s death.
Oh it definitely was, it is a Juju after all- I’m saying that what happens when the clock ticks is a DISPLAY of the process. It does have magical properties- And the process and the clock are linked, BUT altering the direction of the clock handle to determine the fate of some character is kind of… Weird in general? I feel it’d be something that’s set the moment the Death happens, not the moment the Clock displays it. Like. Is there ANY doubt that Vriska’s death was deservedly Just? Or that Jade’s was? Because they most certainly were textbook definitions of Just Deaths.
I mean there’s nothing solid, which is why I didn’t specify.
I really don’t have the full list of the Quiz questions and what they give to what Aspects so I wouldn’t be able to tell you quite right now.
Not by aranea but by a weird angry stabby man with a rocket powered ass
It’s what I’m saying though- Was it? What could they have done to the clock that made any difference on the Judgement? Vriska was slain by Terezi because her actions were going to lead to the death of the rest of the Trolls, which is definitely a Just Death. Jade’s was a corrupted evil slain for a good cause- Even if said cause had questionable means, it fits to a T to Scratch’s definition of Just Deaths. What could luck do to influence the textbook definition of a Just Death? What could lightly knocking the Clock do to a nefarious Troll slain be someone protecting her Friends?
www,homestuck,com/story/6652 here it is! Jade’s death wasnt fully just, it was around in the middle, but araneas luck made it purely just
I know the page, and I know that exactly, what I’m questioning is the validity of her being lucky affecting the Clock in the slightest, rather than it being a tease on Hussie’s side making us believe it was going to land in the middle. She is lucky it stuck, regarding her plans- But… Is she really that lucky at all? Again. It was a textbook definition of a Just Death. What I am arguing is that it would’ve stuck regardless of Aranea being lucky or not.
Jack’s intervention was intentionally left ambiguous by Hussie if I recall, so I’m arguing the same holds true for Aranea’s intervention and how much it actually impacted such a death.
Edit:
And jade wasnt killed by a hero, as Aranea was not acting the least bit herioc. Scratch’s description of godtier deaths dont seem to be as black and white as he makes it seem.
If anything that may have been what Aranea altered, making the Judgement consider her Heroic enough. Her means are villainous, but in the end she IS doing what she’s doing for a Heroic Cause, trying to take down Lord English. She goes fucking crazy when her plans start to break down, but her case is similar to Vriska’s- Trying to do some big act to make themselves be Heroic in the eyes of Paradox Space, only to be struck down as a Villain.
Scratch also mentions those are extremely broad definitions and that it really varies from case to case, those are the two examples he gives- What I’m saying is that it fits the example he gave well enough. Wait, didn’t you just exemplify the Judgement thing in the previous ask by saying that Aranea isn’t heroic enough to have given Jade a Just Death and that’s why manipulation was involved? How is that different from Condy choking Aranea out? Or were you mentioning about the weird and broad thing? With how it’s more than what he just says. Ugh, sorry, my mind’s a mess.
I know what Scratch says, and I know that his two definitions aren’t the ONLY ways to die Heroic/Just deaths, and I know it’s a case by case basis. I was just mentioning the heavy similitude.
Jake also died an Unheroic Death and came back in the Game Over Timeline. I thiiiink that’s about it?
Good night Anon!
No idea at all.
I didn’t mean the one in Game Over proper, I meant a bit before that in the Timeline, Jane stabbed him the moment the Hope Field vanished, which wasn’t Heroic nor Just.
I feel that’s a bit of a stretch but it fits I guess.
No probs!
You can just float there.
Apparently.
