The most interesting Breath-related thing about Reimu is her implied lack of meaningful attachments - despite her amiable relationships with many other character and the fact that she can be seen sympathetic to others, so far nothing indicates that she won't be ready to rid of them if duty demands with no ragard for any whys or whatnot.
Konyyl's bad end is making me think. The ship goes haywire and the PC specifies that it feels more like it's being shaken than that the engine is failing, implying outside interference, and states that's how it felt when their ship landed on Alternia. Does this imply some external party PULLED their ship there for reasons unknown?
Seems like there may be something going on in Alternia’s atmosphere. Scratch or something else, we can only speculate until we know more about the nature of the event.
But act 6 is almost half of the comic! Be more specific.
Act 6 Act 6 Intermission 5? Really, I believe the latter in the comic it was, the more I enjoyed piecing things together, and I don’t put Act 6 Act 6 Act 6 or Act 7 there because they were a single page.
Doc Scratch probably isn't behind the monsters. He's never used monsters before, they're not his colour scheme, and he'd be more likely to verbally manipulate Joey. Plus, the monsters appear to be trying to STOP Joey getting to the attic (they cut the power, one blocks the stairs in the group strife, and if they catch her they eat her) and Scratch secures her connection and acts as the hint function, implying he wants her on Alternia. So it seems there are two big bads involved...?
Is it me or do the monsters seem to be focusing on Joey? The snake could certainly get up the tree - it climbs up the walls and ceiling - and it followed Jude partway up before stopping to chase Joey, so it knows he's there, but instead goes to cut the power instead of going to eat him. The flying ones could certainly reach him, and don't go near him; they have no eyes but sense Joey's flashlight in the kitchen battle, so they could probably "see" him when he flashes the lantern.
I mean, the snake chases Joey since she seems easier to get than climbing up, and Jude implies he’s undetected and kind of remaining hidden in the treehouse.
If Doc Scratch made Alternia violent, then how come some caste such as Rustbloods and Bronzebloods are still docile?
They’re the ones at the bottom. They’re the ones violence is directed to. If they show themselves to have revolutionary ideals or want to kill higher castes, they’ll be executed on the spot. Also they can definitely still be violent.
So it’s canon that there are more signs than ones given in the extended zodiac??
Trolls sharing symbols is rare. Alternia is a god damn planet. Rustbloods seem exterminated by the hundreds but still exist as one of the most plentiful castes. That alone pretty much confirms there’s gotta be several thousand Rust Signs alone. It’s possible there’s less the more you go up the Hemospectrum, but with an intergalactic empire, the Sign Count pretty much HAS to be on the Billions.
However- In Hiveswap, they either have not been hunted yet to Extinction, or it was their LUSII they hunted to extinction, as we’ve seen Lime Blooded Grubs or at least Grub Blood in one of the Friendsim Endings.
Best guesses the fandom has for secret limebloods are Marvus and Boldir; think it's either, or both, or someone else?
Nah, I don’t think Boldir has any reason to hide her caste if she’s already showing herself off to be a sneaky private investigator sort of deal. Marvus’ idea of him not being Purple stems from ‘Xoloto’ -> ‘Xolotl’, which while a cool idea, I think it’s more likely he doesn’t give much of a fuck about the Purple Religion, if anything. I just think we haven’t been shown the Lime yet.
Hey the lusus theory would be fun to explore, since killing off the grubs and trolls would kinda be a hassle and not really a sure method they could just kill the lusii and wait for nature to do its thing
Specially if their Lusii have something to do with the reason they were made to go extinct in the first place- I still think it’s suspicious that there was a random First Guardian Axolotl and a Limeblood with an Axolotl avatar.
It's not just the axolotl connection for Marvus. "Xoloto" is the term for a poser juggalo, and also resembles "xoloton" which is Nahuatl for "slave/servant/pageboy", so I'm pretty sure he's a lowblood of some sort. Xolotl was also an Aztec god of fire, lightning, death, and deformity; lime blood is considered a deformity now and could lead to his death, and the axolotl is spewing green fire. Also, I doubt they'll ass-pull entirely new trolls suddenly after getting to know all these.
You DO know it’s confirmed there’s going to be more Trolls than just the ones in the Troll Call right? Violets at the very least, and likely more. Fiamet and Cridea are also two elephants in the room that could still be in the game, and Cridea’s at the very least named on the billboards in Act 1.
I didn’t know the servant thing, but I did know the Xoloto as a Poser Juggalo, which is why I said not quite caring about the religion. I mean he could be! But I don’t quite see it right now.
Wait but wasnt it said in cannon that the reason they were extinct was because they disrupted the homespectrum in the sense that, well, in simple terms, they were too OP for someone in the lower midblood section
It’s never been mentioned why they were hunted to extinction as far as I can recall. Vaguely implied but not told any specifics? I’ll have to look it up later.

UU: on the other hand, those of my blood coloUr were once actUally qUite common! bUt later they were all hUnted to extinction. GG: Jeez. Why? UU: details of the genocide are historically mUrky. it’s one of those maddening voids in my Understanding of yoUr elaborate epic. UU: bUt i have specUlated their extermination had to do with the extremely powerfUl abilities they tended to have, and the threat to aUthority they represented. even more so than other powerfUl lowbloods.
There we go.
However, the ‘powerful ability’ could be kind of a misleading thing- Something to disrupt the authority could have just as well been, as many headcanon, pacifying powers that disrupt how prone to violence Trolls are.
Having a high chance of having First Guardian-like Lusii, definitely sounds like it’d fit the bill of being too powerful though, which is a sort of crack-theory of mine at the moment.
Also- Of course we all know the TRUE reason they went extinct is that Alternia is ruled by Lord English, so of course there’d be a Lime Extermination some way. But there was some unknown biological catalyst.
Wasn't it confirmed that Cridea and co were written out, though? And it seems kind of unfair to introduce all these characters, get us speculating about them, and then go "surprise, we're going to pull this entirely new character and THEY'RE the only really important one!" There's a writing rule my friend came up with; "'I didn't see that coming' is good, whereas 'I couldn't possibly have seen that coming' is not".
We literally don’t know what’s going to happen in Act 2, and we’re travelling somewhere to meet the Grubbles’ fan, which may not even be anyone in the Troll Call, this is could easily be a transitory Act leading to meeting up with the important figures, you can’t consider ‘what we couldn’t have possible seen coming’ as a rule at this point because we literally have no clue of where the story’s going at this point, even with the Troll Call Trolls.
Also the ones written out were the ones with 3D models, as they were Fantrolls of the prior team, no idea if Cridea and Fiamet were also written off. And while Cridea and Fiamet themselves MAY have been written out, their role is still very much there for a Violet and a Lime. Until we have more confirmation of their fate, why not use their names just the same to identify said roles?
There's "we don't know what's going to happen" and there's "WP is going to get us speculating on what will happen, then drop all the characters they've already given us information on to introduce entirely new ones, thus making all our speculation worthless". Like, a mystery would SUCK if the culprit was introduced only in the last chapter so we couldn't possibly have guessed. More characters, yes, but I figured they'd be in future Parts and introduced with another Troll Call set.
Why does a new set of characters have to invalidate the previous one? You’re making it seem like there’s only a single storyline going on through the entirety of Hiveswap, given what we’ve seen with the Troll Call, we’re going on a long journey through Alternia. Why does it have to be so dramatic?
Since there was double of the Frog Temples, and two sets of the Genetic Sequences, there totally could be two First Guardians, right?
I mean, the genetic sequences were all mixed together apparently. But yes, there’s two Frog Temples, and as such the Axolotl First Guardian is a thing that potentially has an easy and straightforward SBURB origin in the setting of Hiveswap.
So the Ψioniic's psionics (and other Goldblood with that) is actually more powerful than the Condesce's ship engine? Huh
I mean. Of course they are. Because the Engine is designed to be incomplete without the Goldbloods. They are PART of the Engine. The fact they’re made to work without the Goldblood, too, tells me them dying is kind of common.
is it weird that to me a lot of the active classes in H.S like the witches and vriska always try to be selfless? despite active classes always being deemed as the selfish one
Well, Vriska’s trying to act like Mindfang through a lot of her story, who’s, as we know, a Sylph, so she’s trying to be Passive to live up to Mindfang’s Legacy. As for the Witches, Jade’s got a really deep connection with Prospit that leaves her very Passive for a while, and while Feferi’s intentions seem Selfless, as we see with Beforus, the Hemospectrum she wants to implement, while better than on Alternia, is still oppressive, so in a way she’s only doing what she thinks is best for others, while not giving them agency of their own, which can come across as selfish. She’s also drained from being Eridan’s Moirail, another mark that she needs to focus on herself to be happy.
She wanted to make it so that ‘culling’ meant taking care of those on the lower castes.
Except, much like with the Cuttlefish she drags along to her Hive because she likes them, it makes it so that lower castes are being babied all of the time by higher bloods, and that the higher castes are forced to be caretakers for those of a lower blood. Rufioh and Latula both struggle with the fact they don’t want to have their agency taken away by this society, and Meenah just goes away to the Moon and refuses being the next Empress because she considers the role that of a ‘Glorified Slave’.
Do you think it’s likely that with these new characters we’ll be able to see repeat Hero Title combinations? I thought I’d be interesting see previously used class & aspect combinations under the lenses of a different zodiac sign. Imagine a Seer of Mind under Scorza(strategist) or a Maid of Life under Pisci.
After reading the Doom bound description, would a Knight of Doom serve their teammates by providing empathy? Like they are people who will never let their friends suffer disaster alone, even if disaster in inevitable? My other idea is that the Knight uses their energy, since Doom is the release of energy, like a battery to help the team?
That could work, yeah, they could easily be the “That’s rough, buddy” of the group.
is it possible for one of the players in a session to survive while everyone else including the villain dies? is it possible to be doomed by just being the only survivor? if that makes sense
As the last Survivor, you decide if the Session ends or not, it’s your right to just give up and let everything be doomed. But. Yeah you can just. Be the last one standing and it to not be a Doomed Timeline too. Why not?
So im a mind player, that i know for a fact. For a long time i believed i was a knight. Then i started to question that and choose mage. then after further questioning (and reading your posts about classpect role play) i relised i was still a knight, just have a very mage-ish take on things to better myself. Then i read the maid definition after taking your quiz... a saw a bit of myself in it. Will is confusion ever end? X'D
i know but it is honestly kinda grading on me. am i a knight who just sees myself as both these classes or am i actually one of these other classes? the mind aspect part of me dosent make it any easier. tips or thoughts?
Nothing much I can recommend really, specially with the Mind Aspect, just go with what you feel was right, maybe your first choice.
If a god tier player from a doomed timeline goes back to the beginning of a session to try and prevent what caused the timeline to be doomed, can they survive being from a doomed timeline if they’re god tier?
Nope, they’re marked for death unless they get ‘resurrected’ somehow, or unless there are heavy Juju Shenanigans. Given how Paradox Space operates, they’ll likely die preventing the Doom of the Timeline and as such count as Heroic.
I've noticed a lot of people puzzling over Diemen's name and dissecting its literal meanings, which turn out to mean nothing relevant (like, "a pile of straw" isn't useful here). I'm certain it's a reference to Van Diemen's Land, the old name for Tasmania. Diemen lives by stealing, and criminals were transported to Australia, see? If it is, it's pronouced "dee-men".
Huh, maybe? It’d tie to him living around stealing Hotdogs but I’m not sure about the connection.
Hi again with the doomed player trying to go back in time to save their session question, would a ring of life (like the one Aranea had) prevent the player from the doomed timeline to be marked for death?
Yep. Also. Not ‘a Ring of Life’. The Ring of Life. It’s a Juju.
Will Tegiri be a legislacerator too when he'll be featured in Friendsim?
I’d hope not! I’m kind of hoping for Tegiri and Stelsa to be sort of deviants from the Legislacerator norm we’ve seen so far, see more Teal Jobs and such.
Well, cerulean themes are confirmed to "steal other caste's instruments".
That’s true too! But they’d steal instruments of other castes they have relation too- In the case of Aradata’s theme, it’s because it’s a Vriska theme, which makes sure she’d steal the Teal motifs.
This is just a guess but Tegiri looks like the bounty hunter type of law enforcement, or at least trying to be - I agree with your assessment of him as a blowhard. That's why Prince of Void is the top of my classpects guess list for him; if he's actually any good he could be something else, maybe Knight, but I like the idea of him being a lousy fighter because he's destined to "destroy nothing". That would also work if he is a successful active criminal-hunter, "destroying secrecy".
Honestly I don’t really know if Alternia has ANY other type of law enforcement aside from the Bounty Hunter type.
Well, Tyzias certainly doesn't look like a bounty hunter and Tagora's confirmed to be weak so he'd be lousy at it. I was picturing Tegiri hunting actively while Tyzias and Tagora stuck to paperwork, if that makes sense.
You seem to have a lot of faith that Alternian Society would care about whether or not aspiring Legislacerators can actually handle a fight. There could be less bounty-huntery types, but what they are capable of or want is not exactly a factor when talking about the structure of Troll Society at large.
On the Ardatas theme thing, it isn’t a Vriska theme, I think? It’s breeding duties from genesis frog, which is more to do with Jade, her iguanas or Lofaf in general, but don’t quote me on who’s theme it is
Oh! I thought it was Vriska’s theme, but you’re right! The point still stands though, in that it’s not really a theme made FOR Ardata, so the Harpsichord use may be incidental. I’ve actually not checked it out in a while, I should do a big re-hearing of most of the Homestuck OST.
Do you know which class best fits the Lover/Innocent archetypes in the respective Pearson/Jung 12 archetypes?
Reading through… The Lover may fit the Knight well, and the Innocent, could be the Heir or Page? Not sure though, it’s not a 1-1 match I would say, although Hussie DEFINITELY took inspiration from the 12 archetypes. I don’t know enough to make an accurate call though.
The Karmic Destiny theme of "ancestor succeeded where descendant is struggling but it led to their downfall" is making me think Xultan Matzos is Xefros Tritoh's ancestor. Xefros idolises him and hopes he had the same kind of lusus; the poster of him is hard to see but his horns look about the right shape; he was supposedly the greatest stickball player ever and a very powerful psychic but it got him killed by the previous counterpart of the heiress Xefros is opposing.
He is- Not necessarily genetic Ancestor, but definitely looking up to him. There’s also some theories htat, whereas Xultan was super powerful with telekinesis, Xefros may actually be really good at communion with the dead and just hasn’t realized it yet.
Hey do you know much about being a muse of doom I'd like to know more ( my best friend is running a d&d game using our aspects and roles so I'd like to learn a little more)
I guess since I’ve been getting a few Classpect Asks, I will take the chance to reblog my Classpect Masterpost, so check the post after this.
Hello! I’m Homestuck Examination, and for a while now I have been doing Class and Aspect analysis stuff. With the advent of the Canon Aspect Quizand some pretty interesting explanations of each Aspect, I decided to make a Class Quiz, which you can take following this link:
Ever since I made this Quiz, people have been asking me to go more in-depth about some of the Classpect Combinations, and until now I’ve been answering them separately- But then, given they just kept coming and repeated ones kept popping up in my Inbox I thought, what the hell? I may as well do every single one of them broadly and get it over with!
Below I’ll post links to analysis for each Class individually on its own, and a broad view over how each Class Pair would interact with each Aspect.
A foreword about this analysis, the pairings may not exactly match up your personal Headcanons, specially talking about the Knight/Page alignment and the Sylph/Maid and Heir/Witch pairings, but I do explain my reasoning in the analysis, and you should check thisif you want a more in-depth analysis about the reasoning between these pairings and power ideas.
Furthermore, Classes sharing the same Verb are similar enough with their powers that they may be interchangeable- So what a Bard of Time can do, a Prince of Time likely can, and so on, so if you don’t exactly agree with my analysis, make sure to check the Passive/Active counterpart!
Hope my analysis helps you come to terms with your own Classpect, or think of fun interactions and things Players could do within a Session!
Kudos to @revolutionaryduelist for his amazing analysis of Homestuck as well as the little Class Cards, and to homestucking-girl for the base sprite I used for the Mage Class!
And if you want to see my original Post about the Class Quiz, you can find it over here!
What are the jobs for each Caste? I know rust is like, janitors and farmers and such, but what about the others?
Honestly we’re not quite sure yet. And it also depends on whether you mean on-planet or out there in Space. Rust has the low service-y jobs, Bronzes can be cargo lifters, Teals take care of law stuff, but other than that it’s hard to say, and the further up to go the more jobs open up for sure.
The higher castes are implied to be enforcers, cops and soldiers though there cavelreapers? or whatever tavros' ancestor was and they are also implied to be a part of the military so I guess we can draw from that that lowbloods were also allowed to join the military in some cases?
I mean, Condy’s goal keeping all the Adults off of Alternia is to have them not organize in non-empire-sanctioned, rebel ways. Given what we know about Alternian Society, every adult is gonna be part of the military and several branches, whether they be pilots, working on cargo ships, or on the frontlines, may depend on the specific caste, but they’re all out there with the purpose of expanding the empire more.
The enforcer caste is specifically the Purples, specially with their Chucklevoodoos keeping other castes in line with awful violent nightmares, which seems more like fear tactics and violent repression rather than actual law enforcement.
Then again it’s not like there’s that much of a difference between those two huh.
i'm finally caught up with the new friendsims (btw does the newest dlc just not show up in steam desktop app for anyone else) and it's pretty interesting how despite being individualistic you can still see one or some traits of the true sign alternian troll in them... like how vriska's capability and confidence show in remele, i found that my favorite thing in her route for some reason? it really reminds you how much cosmic significance the true sign trolls have oh BOY
Yeah, they’re all definitely pushed into neat little Beta Troll, and sometimes, Alpha Troll-shaped boxes. Also Steam and Friendsim’s DLCs have been at odds since day one haven’t they? I always look it up through the Search Function.
also you can rule all olivebloods under one job and that job is to Rip People's Faces Off (just kidding there's themes of violence and more importantly survival in each of them, like among the castes who get shit from society the olives are the most likely to fight? rebel? something? against it? i think? live by their own rules? if you like to reach like me, among midbloods they're like the rogues to the teals' law enforcing stuff)
We can’t say that yet, look at Charun and Boldir, they don’t seem too specially rip-face-off-y. In fact Boldir seems to be a private investigator, which is more in line with Teals than opposed to them.
im not sure about this theory either, but bronze/olive might make good hunters? both these castes have some connection to animals, what if there are trolls who provide food for the lusi of the high bloods
Bronzes do not need to hunt, they have Animal Communion so they likely have farms instead or simply draw in beasts. Olives though, we’ll see! We’re bound to see more eventually.
