I just read jailbreak and bardquest and I'm about to read problemsleuth (I never finished it the first time) it seems like hussie took elements from each thing and used it to build up the next and next thing, and yet each is so far removed from the other that it's almost absurd to see them share the same website. Theoretically, do you think a comic after homestuck would "build" on it and be exponentially bigger and more complex?
There’s a few things your analysis doesn’t touch upon! Not only did Hussie build from previous experiences and improve on the art style and refine little elements, he also changed how the comic itself was being delivered. Jailbreak was an anything-goes sort of deal with Bard Quest being his attempt at making a branching adventure. Both of these were all decided by user input.
Problem Sleuth is where things start to get more complex, where Hussie presented a simple setting like in Jailbreak, and let it run for a lot longer than Jailbreak- The fact that made him realize that, unless he took the reins of the story, it would just keep on expanding. Towards the end of Problem Sleuth, Hussie began to cherry-pick commands that’d advance the plot or even outright made them up.
Homestuck came from that very same concept, allowing user input and interaction with the fans, but leading it all down a predetermined path, a story he’s got the outline of in his head. Which got even more complex once he had a solid idea of where he wanted the story to go, and reduced the user input to a minimum. It’s possible Hussie’s next story will be that, a story, with no direct user Input, planned meticulously from the beginning. Whether that makes it more or less complex, though, who knows. I mean, it’s Hussie. He has crazy ideas and mixes stuff from just about any possible and existing literary piece and medium he likes and knows about, it’s still going to be a complex-ass story.
The question is not how the next story will be, but on WHAT it will be. Will it be another Webcomic? Or something else? Maybe now that he’s built fans and friends and has got some deals with Viz, we will literally see an Anime directed by Hussie.

There’s a heavy, immense, utterly abysmal difference between raising yourself and raising someone else. Dirk knows his own limits, he likes rowdy training and strifing and is a man of combat, but he’s shown at every step of the way that he’s both 1) Absolutely and immensely socially awkward, and 2) Afraid that he’ll push his friends too far.
And that’s the thing, Bro’s rigorous training likely seems… Normal to himself. But for a 13 year old Kid, it’s a god damn hell. He literally sees it as nothing more than training to strengthen Dave, likely because he knows the End of the World is coming, and he’s dealing with the fact he’s put in care of one of the 4 Heroes that will have to do something about that.
Dirk himself says it, that he could see himself becoming that kind of person if gone unchecked. Think it more of how AR is rather than Dirk- A more immature, coarse and controlling personality. Besides, Dirk has the immensely positive influence of Alpha Dave, who he looks up to, while Bro doesn’t seem like he had anything of that sort.

Unlike other castes there’s not much about Fuchsias being female-exclusive or even majoritarily female. Thing is- We literally only know 4 Fuchsias and we’re likely not going to get to know any other Fuchsia unless we go to a Troll Museum in Hiveswap Act 2-

The Rites of Maturation are the joining into the Alternian Workforce for the Trolls, or at the very least, a preparation to start fitting more into what society expects of them. The Ordeals are a series of trials to test the Trolls that have reached Adulthood before being sent off-planet.

Both Rage and Hope are related to Religion in their own different ways. if anything, Hope is more related to believing and putting your faith on something, while Rage is more concerned with the irrefutably factual.

I couldn't help but notice that even though she has a different sign to Feferi and Meenah and the Empress, the Heiress seems to have the same kind of horns. Do you think all Fuchsia trolls have horns of the same shape? Cause if so, that might ruin a lot of people's Fuchsia trollsonas. I mean, it would make more sense if they have similarities like how most Indigos have pointy horns, but if that's so, wouldn't the Heiress have slightly different horns?
There’s only so many different horn shapes you can have, I DOUBT all Fuchsias have the same horns, it may have just fit Trizza’s aesthetic better.

Not as infinite as you’d expect, deviations in the Timeline are tied to Choice and what characters are likely to do. Conscious decisions affect the Timeline, but it’s unlikely there’s a Timeline for outlandish possibilities that wouldn’t match someone’s character at all.

Is friendsim canon? If so when does it take place? I always thought all the trolls shown in friendsim were from the past (condy ruling era) and are henceforth dead now
“Condy ruling era” literally is not a measure of time because we’ve never known an era of Alternia’s history not ruled by Condy. It takes place slightly prior to Joey’s arrival to Alternia, but its canonicity is dubious at best.
When you think about it as far as we are aware gamzee is the only troll who out lived their dancestor (as in they were alive at the same time but the ancestor died first) so aradia and tav dont count because they werent alive at the same time. (Helmsman may or may not have been alive at the same time as sollux but i doubt it)
The Psiioniic, Condy and likely the Highblood were alive when the Kids started the game. Darkleer is dubious but he could’ve still been alive. All of them died as the Troll Session started, except for Condy, who survived until Collide.
I think the Friendsims are "canon" in according to universe compliance but then Not in that a random little MSPA person won't actually be referenced or known by the characters when they appear in regular Hiveswap

No effects on the God Tiers, they are already God Tiers. When you do New Game+ at level 100, you don’t learn new skills, you just carry over your stuff.

Hi! A question about the ghosts in the bubles, could the one's who achieve God Tier before dying use their achieve power to change their no-lifes inside the dream-bubbles? It's suposed yes, since Meehna when searching for people for her army prefers the ones with God Tier, but it's something I have alwayd being curious. For example, God tier Porrim is a Maid of Space, wouldn't she be able to expand a Dream bubble if wanted?
The Dream Bubble really doesn’t count as ‘space’, and you can just change stuff around through your own thoughts and memories without God Tier powers. She was only going after the God Tiers because they’re the most likely to have strong powers to take LE down.
Is Cirava ghosting Doom as a goldblood or inverting to Rage or both? They seem mellow but they make a Suspiciously Specific Denial about how they don't want people to think they "live in a dump and spend all my time crying", which implies to me that they actually are pretty depressed and doesn't seem very Hope-y.
The fact they make up a fabricated personality relates to Hope more than Rage. Also all Trolls of a caste show traits of the Aspect of that caste to some extent.
In Chahut’s route Amisia mentions Chahut leaving in a few Perigees. On Chahut’s troll call it says in two Weeks. So it may be safe to assume a Perigee is about a week.
We don’t know how long before Joey’s arrival all of this is, however, so it could be longer.
A perigee is, on Earth, a month; it's the point when the moon is closest to the earth in its orbit. The Alternian "bilunar perigee" seems to serve the same purpose time-wise as a month, and also MSPA Reader is almost certainly not on Alternia at the same time as Joey, so I'm pretty certain Friendsim's set a few months before her arrival.
Considering how Mindfang dates her journal entries, it would be... quite odd for perigees to be as long as Earth months are.

I think Mindfang's journal dating is an error on Hussie's part. As I said, a perigee is a point in a moon's orbit around the planet; you can't have several of those within a few days unless both their moons move at about the speed of sound. Also, Friendsim is quite definitely set BEFORE Joey turns up; the trolls in Friendsim have never seen a human before, none of them know more than a couple of the others yet, and the rebellion apparently hasn't begun yet.
As I said, AU where Joey just isn’t around, and the Rebellion is an underground group, for all we know it may not be well known among any of the Trolls in the Troll Call.
It could’ve been retconned so that Perigees are months now, or that maybe Bilunar Perigees and Perigees are actually two different measures of time, so honestly who knows. If we go by Homestuck Canon, they’re defined as days.

(geez, do you think either of them are stronger than sollux? probably not but. imagine)
I don’t think Kuprum is that powerful- He can produce an immense amount of energy, but I wouldn’t exactly say he’s more powerful than Sollux, maybe on the same level. Cirava themselves say they were not that powerful to begin with before gouging their eye out, so not ALL psionics we’ve met were Top Tier.
Azdaja though, he’s definitely more powerful than Sollux. Have you seen his sprites? Both Sollux and Kuprum let energy leak out like electricity, and Sollux can channel it as laser beams- Azdaja goes a step beyond that. His power doesn’t look like electricity. It looks lie water. He shapes balls of energy out of his Psionics, something without precedent as far as we’ve seen, even for someone like Sollux. His control over his powers is astonishing.
You know, I think you might be on to something. I think that Sollux is the most powerful (ie: hurling a fucking planetoid into the infinite abyss with relative accuracy) while Azdaja has more dexterity and skill. Kuprum's probably just got raw power going for him though but, knowing him, he would rely on the art of dirty tactics, like siccing a psionic void on them.
Do remember that Sollux’s Ancestor was used by Condy to power her own personal ship, so that speaks to Sollux’s and Mituna’s raw energy potential- That being said, do remember whenever Sollux has been hurling meteors around without dying, he’s always had Aradia’s help.
i don't think shape of psionics energy = amount of power. but i do think it could reflect their personality or fighting style, and that's really interesting. azdaja definitely has it more together than the other two.
I’m not saying raw power in itself, but it definitely reflects a finesse and skill not seen in any other Psionic until now.

As an interesting note, Dave’s shown using primarily his left hand, but he uses his right one for drawing, implying that he’s either ambidexterous, or intentionally using his right hand to draw SBaHJ even more shittily.

This comes from the assumption that there’s only 24 signs for each caste, which is false. The Extended Zodiac is a comprehensive thing WE, the audience, have been given to identify the Troll Call Trolls for their Aspect, and to get a Symbol for ourselves after taking the Quiz, but Trolls sharing a Sign is explicitly stated to be very, very rare.
Alternia doesn’t know the association between the Sign and the Moon Sway and the Aspectbound, or if they do know about it, they may simply not care. Societal Expectations based on caste actually come not from the Sign of the Character, but from the True Sign of each caste. All Indigos are held to Voidbound stereotypes, all Jades to Spacebound stereotypes, and so on. That is what causes the harm on the society, the fact that most Trolls actually fit under another Moon Sway or Aspect, but the ‘ideal’ of each Caste is held by the True Sign. They’re forced into boxes they just don’t fit in, and we see this manifest consistently in Hiveswap and Friendsim with characters showing a heavy influence of their True Sign’s Aspect, while pushing for their own.
Similarly with the Lime Signs, Cancer is there as a confirmation of Karkat being a Limeblood Mutant, but there’s gotta be thousands more symbols for each Caste, but it’s just convenient to pin-point him there at long last. In-canon, actually, Karkat wearing the Signless’ Sign was likely due to the Jades that still followed the Sufferer’s Teachings having the Lusus and the Sign ready for him, and like, he should’ve been an on-kill target for any Drone, so I’m calling “Doc Scratch Shenanigans” on that. That, or Karkat literally never leaves home and is just a complete shut-in.
What we DO know, is that the Sign is tied to Genetics. Surnames are called ‘Caste Names’ in Alternia, which heavily implies that not only that, as we thought given the Betas and Alphas, Trolls and their Ancestors always seem to share a Sign, but that it groups these Trolls of the same Caste but common genetic lineage in the same sort of ‘family’ tree. This makes sense given how little Rusts live, for Higher Castes it may be more difficult to see, but Purples can likely outlive dozens of Rust lineages, and see the same sign popping up a bunch of times. So it’s actually possible there’s some sort of genetic scan for the Trolls that make it out of the Caverns that assigns them a Sign depending on their predominant Genetics, Troll Society is after all a sci-fi world with a lot of bio-technological implementation, so that wouldn’t be far fetched.
Drones doing the scanning/assigning would also make sense- They’re aggressive and awful but they’ve also been shown to do menial tasks in rich neighborhoods, and there’s Drones for various tasks such as Building Construction, so not all of them are mindless killing machines.

Oh shit you’re right. A2 is the Beta Trolls right? We don’t actually know much of the Prospitian Royalty in the Troll Sessions but presumably, given White is always destined to lose, they were just Exiled or Killed as usual.

Exiles are all the Prospitians and Dersites that leave the Session to go live on the destroyed planet. They may not find the capsules to contact with the Session, but is it so weird to imagine they made a little Prospitian Colony separate from Midnight City? Maybe like. High Noon Village.
Adding on to 'High Noon Village', iirc the B2 White Queen had saved a bunch of her subjects and put them on a ship, they dropped her off in the desert so she could carry on alone. So technically all of those carapacians would have also been exiles even if they didn't command any of the canon players. Furthermore, Homestuck canon constantly alludes to other doomed sessions with other players happening... who's to say one of those nameless carapacians wasn't the exile for the Gent of Piss?
Well, on Earth that may be True, but on Alternia the Beta Trolls were the only ones to play SBURB. That being said? Yeah, that’s just all ‘exiles’ are, literally the Exiled people of the Kingdoms. In the Beta Kid Session there was brutal planet-maiming and moon-destroying, it’s very likely that in the Troll Sessions every Carapacian in Prospit and a chunk of the survivors in the Battlefield would get Exiled.
Wha- No, nothing to do with Rosemary or Cotton Candy here folks, we’re talking LITERAL ships! I forgot I didn’t post this here, and I decided to showcase another useless Trivia & Size Comparison within the Homestuck-verse! First of all, everyone’s favorite Golden Vessel.
This is kind of silly and mostly useless in general, because, who cares, really, and Jade can use her Spacey Thing to resize things! But hey, god dammit, I wanted to see if the Battleship was realistically sized.
I took several screenshots from Cascade and lined them up to have more or less an accurate pixel measurement of the entirety of the front section of the Ship. It wouldn’t usually be enough…
However, in the ‘low res’ version of the Ship where we get the whole ship, the masts give it very obvious and defined reference points. Assuming the Kids to be 5′6″, which I sort of use as an ‘average’ height in general, and whether they are a little bit shorter or taller shouldn’t have that MUCH of an impact on the rest of the ship, the grand total is 325.5′ or just about 100m! This is what a 100m Ship looks like IRL.
Maybe not a perfect match, maybe kind of small, but hey, it seems sorta feasible? Let’s put the Prospit Ship aside though, because the next one is a very, very fun one, and the one that inspired me to make this into a post in the first place- The Battleship Condescension.
Now, the BIG issue when calculating sizes in Homestuck, is that everything is drawn loose and fast. Depending on the panel, you may end up with completely different size measurements from the same item or characters, not to say, the sizes of the planets, including Derse and Prospit. It’s intentional though, Homestuck doesn’t quite care about proportions, it cares more about style. This makes it difficult to say how big anything is, and even the Golden Battleship looks more like some sort of Carrier, which would put it significantly over the 100m mark?
The Battleship Condescension doesn’t have any real-life ship to compare it to, and sure, we could just take the measurement of Condy or the Handmaid on it and try to see the size, but we can do better. Because you see, The Battleship Condescension may be the one thing in the entirety of Homestuck who can have a set, determined size.
When comparing the shadow with John’s Neighborhood, the issue is that we don’t know the sizes of the houses. When tried to compare with LOFAF, it’s obviously out of proportion, although the shadow does reach to both sides of the Battlefield. So it’s absolutely huge, but why does the BC have a set, calculable size??? Well…
Because it’s one of the few things in Homestuck that has been put right next to a real-life Landmark.
That Lake it’s hovering over is no random Lake, John and Jane both live, explicitly, in Maple Valley, we have their actual addresses. And while a bit misshapen, maybe, the Lake Condy’s Ship is hovering over is a real lake!
The Shadow seems to be cast as a mirror image, so for the sake of this, let’s assume the Sun is at its highest point right above the Ship. It’s hard to translate the Ship’s size to the map of the actual lake, since, again, the Lake’s look is a little bit wonky. But I approximated it enough to what it seems to be, and the result?
400m long, 300 wide, more or less. 300 wide, however, counts the trident-like prongs that come from it, so narrowing it down, the main shaft of the ship itself would be around 100m. This doesn’t count verticality though, the ship’s shape makes it obvious it has more than one floor on the deck. But the shadow it casts would cover quite the imposing area on the ground! How big IS 400m long you may ask, though? Well, for reference…
At 400m long, the Battleship Condescension would be just about the 4th biggest Ship ever built, and the ones bigger than Condy’s ship are currently broken up. Stalemate. Thanos has an immense control over reality, but the laws of Paradox Space itself bend to LE’s will. If Thanos killed LE, all he’d be doing is create a Doomed Timeline, and with Thanos having the full Infinity Gauntlet, I don’t even know if it’d be possible to take him down. So, likely stalemate.
The whole "ancestral awakening" thing was Vriska looked faschinating. Is this like being your ultimate self?
Haha, no, no no no, no that’s just a power up. Vriska’s like the FURTHEST away from being her ‘Ultimate Self’ as she could possibly be by the end of the comic, if anything the Ancestral Awakening thematically pulls her even further away, (Vriska) is LEAGUES closer to achieving that than Vriska.
