How did the Ancestors reached adulthood if lowbloods like rustbloods and bronzebloods have a relatively short lifespan?

What do you mean? All Trolls reach adulthood within their lifespans, no matter how reduced they are for the lower castes.

how do i explain to someone how incredible homestuck is with running themes and references to mythology and genetics and chess and stuff without immediately being dismissed because "lol it's homestuck"?

Really you just need to appeal to interests they may have and chat about it sincerely, if they just dismiss it like that even after having the stuff they enjoy appealed to, they may just be a lost cause.

Has anyone suggested the theory that Friendsim is in a separate but similar timeline to Hiveswap? Since FS takes place simultaneously after Polypa heals completely from the home invasion and yet before Trixie meets Dammek.

We don’t know if this take place after Polypa heals or before she gets hurt though.

I'm late to the void party, but I've been thinking about your posts on it. I think an anon alluded to this but- I feel like my best understanding of Void players and their society is that in striving to act in acceptance of the values, the players act Void of opinion or their own thoughts on the matter, choosing to become mouthpieces and spreading the ideals and letting that inform their personality. Questioning it is about finding the Lack of value/purpose/morality in it. That's my 2 bits.

God I love how complex and interwoven the Aspect system is, it could’ve been so simple, just like, go with very limited concepts for each Aspect, but no, each of them is their own world with so much nuance. You could have an entire story based around every one of the Aspects individually and what they represent, really. Sometimes I wish we had access to Hussie’s notes.

Not really attached to Homestuck in anyway but I just clicked the icon thing on your blog and it tilts!!!! That is so adorable!!!

Huh, so it does, I had no idea actually! Hehe.

if a kid played SBURB & they lived in a boarding school dorm and they entered the medium, would the whole school get taken to the medium as well? it'd be pretty cool to explore a giant, empty & desolate school w/ imps everywhere but if it only took their dorm room then that'd kinda suck. :(

Depends on if there’s other Computers playing SBURB in the dorm or not. we do know SBURB isn’t opposed to taking chunks of buildings.

What age are trolls considered Adults and sent to do their Ordeals?

Likely somewhere around the Human equivalent of 20-21 or maybe a bit later. The Dancestors are all 9 sweeps old, which is 19.5 Human Years, and while it could be a stylistic choice, they do not seem Adults, they are older than the Kids, but they are still not on the “Adult” sort of spectrum. So yeah, 20-21, maybe 23-24 at most? 10 Sweeps sounds round enough. 11 Sweeps could tie in with the Cherub Numerals, with the LE-Controlled Alternia.

so what trolls were lefties?

I believe all of them? I may have to double-check Karkat.

Random sudden realization- if you pronounced the numbers trolls use in their quirks, then with the serkets (since I think replacing b’s are consistent) maybe would be May-eight-e which sounds like matey. You know, like a pirate. Oh man it’s 2am I need sleep

Vriska for the next ARMS character, because damn that’s some reaching.

May you please clarify the difference between a heir and witch’s familiar alongside with how the interact with them? The original explaination was a bit vague, sorry.

It´s vague honestly, and there is some nuance to each case, but it does seem like Heir Familiars are more subservient to begin with, while Witches have a sort of tug of war with the powers of said Familiar- Think John just sending WV off on a Windy Quest shortly after meeting him, versus Jade’s almost Lusus-like relationship with Bec.

how do you feel about about the theory that seers are the actual prophets who tell prophecies and can "see" things while mages are the people who do miracles and aren't so much the prophecy speakers?

There’s a slight bit of interchangeability and nuance, as with most passive/active divides, but that does seem to be the case.

I'm curious; what do you see Michael from vsauce as classpect-wise? I personally see him as a knight of light, as he serves knowlege to others.

I could see him as a Seer actually, he really goes in-depth with his explanations to really try and convey information and share it in a way that’s fun for his audience.

On that same note, Adam Savage is a Bard of Light.

I always thought mages diverted their aspect while seers guided towards their aspects, like how Sollux always seemed doomed but never really died or how Meulin was never in a healthy relationship while Rose guided them to their best possible outcome and Terezi used her powers to guide the retcon

Eh, Sollux did die a lot though? Like. Constantly. Dying and half dying left and right. Probably one of the characters that’s died the most all things considered.

You’re making a very false equivalency here though- A Seer of Light could just as easily lead someone astray through their knowledge of the situation, or lose themselves in their pursue for Knowledge. A big theme of Sollux and Doom is acceptance, but even considering just the meaning of the Aspect- Of course if you know Doom you’re going to try and prevent Doom, who wouldn’t? It’s more of an Aspect Divergence than a Class Divergence.

Now I need to know why do you see Adam as a Bard of Light.

Pursuit of knowledge and cool factual stuff, but blowing shit up for funsies in the process.

Bards always trip me up so bad. Like, in that Bard of Light thing you posted, couldn't it be a Bard of Void too?

No. Destruction doesn’t mean Aspect Inversion. Power-wise it may sometimes, but it doesn’t affect the focus of the character, and not even that much more than other opposite Classpects.

How exactly do server clients and such work? Like Jade was Dave's server player which got him into the game, Rose was John's. And then what Dave got Rose in and same with John to Jade. Was there a specific disk/way they or the game chose them in that order or was it just kinda random?

It’s just the order in which you go in. You have a choice in the order, however different meteors head towards the houses at different times, so ultimately there is a time constraint- Dave couldn’t have been the last one to Enter, for example, because he only barely managed to Enter before the Meteor Landed. In fact if it wasn’t for Bro snapping it in half, the Meteor would’ve hit Dave.

However in a place with no Time Constraint, say, with a Void Session, you could really enter at any point and in any order.

i... am not sure that i understand the difference between seers and mages that well. i know they can overlap, but what is the main difference between them? i know seers tend to get their info from outside sources, i.e. books, other people, etc but does that mean mages just naturally know stuff? do they not read? i consider myself to be very passive (despite being derse haha) but i'm also very introspective and at this point i'm just very confused. any input would be helpful, please

Mages and Seers are one of the hardest Classes to put into words because Knowing and Guiding is kind of naturally a passive action, so Actively Knowing is hard to put into words. That being said, there’s a few ways you can define it. For example, you can go with the idea that Seers are more about using their Knowledge to Tell, while Mages use their Knowledge to Show- Seers being more Theoretical, and Mages more Practical. You could also go with the Active/Passive divide- With Seers using their power to benefit others mainly, while Mages use their power to benefit themselves, mainly. This last one is a bit too vague a lot of the time though. So the usual divide is that they lean towards the two things Prophets are known to do- Seers for the Prophecies themselves, and Mages for the Miracles they perform. There’s nuance like with everything, they may do one or another, but the tendencies are kinda there.

I just want to say - THANK YOU SO SO MUCH FOR THE CLASSPECT ANALYSIS MASTERPOST!!! It's so much easier to classpect characters with all of this information! It's really handy ^o^

Thank you! :D I worry I have become complacent because of it though, sometimes I may skim on some asks or not give as much nuance because I just assume I am nicely set with Classpect stuff on that post.

can you talk of the fused sprites classpects?

They’re actually kind of a combo! Davepeta specially, Knight/Rogue of Time/Heart, they have kind of some symbolism of all four Classpects. Starting with Stealing the individual Selves of Nepetaspirte and Davesprite to be created for Nepeta’s Classpect, they fought LE and somehow made it on time for the big fight which may parse as Knight of Time stuff. Part of the Ghost Army technically, which could parse as Knight of Heart? Literally attacking with their Soul as an Undertale Reference as the Knight of Heart, and the combo of Heart and Time as Determination. Rogue of Time, hard to say. Stole Dave’s prophecy of Strifing LE while Dave took on one of the LE Conduits? Stole some of Jasprose’s, ARquius’ and Jade’s time to give some closure to their characters? Rogue ties in well with Romancey stuff, of which Davepeta shows plenty. Their drive to Combat ties to the Time nature. They act as Jade’s familiar, showing their nature as a Knight… They really are a pretty significant mixture.

Jasprose, it’s harder to tell. She acts ‘Like Rose without a Filter’, but also has some other things in mind and deeper issues and is not a full Seer of Light. There’s some Voidiness to her because of Jasper- But Rose always had some Voidiness thanks to Mom. Without a clear picture of what Classpect Jaspers could even be, having not seen Jasprose too much, and given it’s playing off of Jaspers’ more animal-like tendencies added upon Rose, it’s not too easy to see what layer of Classpecting stuff is added atop her, if any at all.

Edit: Shit I just realized maybe you also meant the other Combos and not just the Squared ones.

Tavrisprite, we will never know because they were so incompatible they just blew up entirely. That being said, Thief of Breath, their very creation stole freedom and direction from them, so you could see something there.

Fefeta literally doesn’t even speak a word, but Rox does mention she helped her through the Session and was really nice to chat with. Nothing to Classpect here.

Erisol is kind of miserable all the time- Prince of Doom could show why he doesn’t blow up, destroying their own Doom, while his Hopes are destroyed because of how awful everything is too? Mage of Hope, Mage of Doom, hard to say, although he was kind of forced to watch and know the whole Trickster Debacle, so you could say from his perspective that was an awful Doom, and the sexual (ZILLION BABIES!) tone of it could also push the Hope angle? It’s not easy honestly.

ARquius though. Prince of Heart, Prince of Void, Heir of Void, Heir of Heart. There’s some stuff here, and specially knowing he later becomes part of LE, and pretty much is Doc Scratch’s base? Prince of Void could definitely tie in with Scratch’s Omniscience as he destroys the Dark Spots in his vision. Heir of Heart, Prince of Heart, could tie in well with him allowing Caliborn’s capture and the subsequent soul-merging into Lil Cal? Having his Soul Destroyed showing off to be a hero, having his Soul Changed and become part of a bigger whole. Heir of Void could also tie in with this, with Lil Cal then being sent into the Void, as well as with his sudden unexplained appearance eluding Caliborn to face him in the final battle, as well as the general tie between Horses and Void.

ohhh I love the fused classpect theory! I personally think lord english has all 16 classpect combinations that come from his four components, what do you think about that?

Yeah, same. Good god is it 16 Classpects from all of them? Bard, Prince, Lord, Heir, of Time, Rage, Void and Heart, yeah. Always with the possiblity that it’s not as much of a Bard or Rage because, half of Gamzee. Maybe he’s just partly a Ba of Ra. A Rd of Ge.

Now imagine Lord English wearing half a Codpiece.

Since the Hope aspect has ties to sexuality, could the Rage aspect potentially be tied to chastity? (Or maybe just being repulsive or repellent?)

Hard to say- While sort of the opposite you could argue Chastity or not being appealing enough is ALSO a part of Hope stuff too, so who knows.

So there’s alternian words of strangely describing the thing but I seem to remember that a ‘highblood accent’ consisted of saying the regular English word. So I was thinking, even if it probably doesn’t happen, what if this also applied to lusi? Also on lusi, how are fish lusi evennamed. They can’t all be fin beasts

Fish are all Finbeasts just as cats are all Meowbeasts, you can be more specific and say one is a Tabby or a Siamese, but they’re still cats, duh. Those are animals though so it’s likely still the same- Like, Highbloods still say long winded weird things for anatomical stuff, but things like furniture and high class things, those seem more normal.

Also Coffee. Coffee is also just coffee.

So what are the Rites of Maturation? In Hiveswap, Xefros said that Dammek was about to be 7 sweeps and was about to do his Rites of Maturation.

The Rites of Maturation seem to be when the Trolls join the Alternian Work Force. Up to a certain age Trolls seem to just have hobbies and interests, and play games like FLARP, but at 7 sweeps they actually start either doing their job, or start a mock-up training for their job for when they leave Alternia.

In one session like natural session you can only have one class and aspect right? Like I mean you can only have one knight player and one like hope player in each session theres never be like a knight of rage and a prince of rage or heir of hope and heir of light?

There’s no rule dictating anything like this.

This might be a bit of a stretch, but are Rogues linked to romantic attraction in a way?

They actually seem to be. It may be coincidence, but it may also tie with the concept of outlaw love or finding a small group of people a Robin Hood-esque type really cares about? Not sure where it comes from or if it’s just coincidence but, yeah, Nepeta, Roxy and Rufioh all have quite the focus on romantic issues of different kinds.

Is it possible for someone to be moirails and matesprits at the same time?

It could be, but Troll Society seems to push for a divide. Think about it like how Polyamory is IRL.

Does anything happen to the Denizens after the players create their universe?

Not as far as we know? Probably the Session just ceases to exist after some time.

Let's say a player dies, gets revived as their dreamself but their dreamself also dies. Would it be possible for the player to continue the game if one of their corpses were used for the second prototyping of their sprite? Would that sprite be able to go god tier?

They could continue the game as a Sprite, as we’ve seen Sprites survive after the end, but I don’t know if they would count for… Actually yeah they do seem to count, given Jade went God Tier with Jadesprite as her Dreamself, so as long as that Sprite died on the Sacrificial Slab, yeah.
