Hey! I’m curious about what your take on the “Knights are the best at their aspect” thing. Because I feel very much like how you interpret a Knight, but the “Knights are the best even if they don’t realize it” has always pushed me away from Knight into being a Rogue. Also, what’s your take on inverse classes and how they relate to one another? Thanks! (PS I love your new class test thank you so much for making it!!)

Thank you, glad you enjoyed! As for “Knights are best at their Aspect”, that’s immediately false. Classes are more ‘versatile’ and hold more ‘impact’ on/with their Aspect, depending on which one it is, but you can’t possibly say that a single Class is the ‘best’ there is. Even the Page, widely considered to be the one able to draw the most raw power out of their Aspect, are still challenged by their slow development curve and whether they’re capable of doing so or not.

Classes and Aspects are heavily tied to someone’s personality, their drive, as well as the specific combination and the situation you’re in. Even if you’re talking in terms of raw combat, perhaps a Prince, a ‘Destroyer’, could be considered more combat-oriented than a Knight, and even then it depends on their level, their will to fight, why they are fighting and WHO they are up against.

I can see why people would imagine Knights to be the ‘best’ though, they’re the Givers that don’t have an outrageous difficulty curve. Giving, Using, Weaponizing, they’re adept at taking a hold of their Aspect- Yet, isn’t the Witch and the Heir, who Manipulate it, also candidates to be the ‘best’ at their Aspect?

As for how Inverse Classes relate to each other, I am assuming you mean Classes which are at the other end of the Verb and/or Active/Passive Spectrum. Calling them ‘inverse’ though, while not bad, definitely misses the point that Classes, like Aspects, are most likely complementary, and not opposite. They make a Whole together. A Thief Takes for Themselves, while a Knight Gives to Others. Both are two sides of the same coin- One who Takes gives to themselves, or to others, someone who Gives must have gotten it from somewhere in the first place.

The same is true for, say, a Sylph and a Prince. Creation for others, Destruction for oneself. Without Creation there’s no Destruction, without things being Made, a Destroyer would end up with nothing. The Class Spectrum is a balance of forces that allow the shaping of reality through the Aspects, which represent the various facets of reality. And as such, they all form part of something bigger. It’s in their interactions with others and with their environment that God Tier Powers shine, rather than the raw potential of a single Class/Aspect Combination.

That being said, if by ‘Inverse’ you meant two Classes with opposite Verbs who do the same function, such as a Thief stealing for themselves while a Page lets others give them things, I’ve had some people tell me that two Opposite Classes would do the same Function, or that, for example, a Prince or a Bard would Destroy their Aspect, making them the opposite Aspect, and that is completely false.

Functionally, there’s overlap with the Classes and they may do similar things, however? A person who is a Prince of Heart, even if they Destroy Heart, is still aligned with Heart and not with Mind. In the same way, a Page and a Thief, while functionally similar in simple terms, have extreme differences in personality, ability sets and ways of working in general. Regardless of your Class and how you interact with your Aspect, you may have a deeper affinity for said Aspect than with its opposite. And in the same way, regardless of what you do, each Class has a series of traits that make them unique and not interchangeable.
