Homestuck Class Quiz
Since the post’s been getting a lot of notes and I’ve seen some criticism about the way I constructed it, let me explain a few things about my process when it came to making it!
First of all, ‘some Questions are biased towards certain Answers’, that is sadly true. There’s some Answers that are more universally liked that people are going to choose more, and it’s what it’s driving so many people towards being Rogue and Muse- However I should also state, knowing how I made the test and seeing a bunch of people ALSO get Lord means the system works just fine. Let me explain:
The intent was that the answers would be biased, for the people holding the personality traits that make the different Classes. Rogues and Muses, when they’re good and positive, are very pleasant to be around and what a lot of people aspire to be to in a group. However, while a bigger portion of people is going to lean this way, simply because of morality, people with Lord-y or Thief-y tendencies will resonate away from these answers and onto the others. So to some people it may seem biased towards certain answers, but it’s precisely this divide that strikes the difference between one Class and another.
The second thing I’ve seen is that some of the Questions seem to imply a very similar thing, but worded differently- And this is completely deliberate for the very same reason. Some Classes, SPECIALLY if they share the same Verb, can react very similarly to the same situation, and in a case like this, their instincts, the immediate response before thinking it any further, and the order in which they do things, rather than what they do, is what determines the difference between one and the other.
That’s why the Neutral Answer is there, if you do not resonate with any of the responses, you likely don’t have much affinity to the Classes the Question is trying to compare, and as such, can’t choose between them because you wouldn’t lean towards any one of them.
I do agree some Questions could be better however, and the Muse/Lord divide is heavily biased towards the Muse- But it’s not because of the way the Questions are constructed, sadly. It’s just- Lords are all about holding absolute control, power and agency, about being the one to Command. By nature, something like this is kind of difficult to imagine without the risk of abusing your power or becoming an oppressive authority, so of course more people are going to lean towards Muses.
No Class is necessarily a Saint, and no Class is necessarily Evil, but some of them are more naturally predisposed to a way of not being good, and others to another, and people seem to resonate more with the Classes that are less capable of being awful at their worst, and more towards the… Self-deprecating, isolationist ones.
