along the same kernelsprite vein: i read somewhere that the sprite prefers dead or doomed things more than anything else and gave what looked like a chat log as proof; do you know where that chat log came from? it was black text, no real capitalization, if that helps.

The game has no explicit rule that demands something dead for prototyping. But in practice, the kernelsprite has particular attraction to the deceased or the doomed. Across every session ever played, exceptions to this pattern are extremely rare.
Basically if there’s ANYTHING that could be considered Doomed or Deceased in your immediate surroundings, the Sprites will definitely favor being prototyped with it, according to Hussie. And while he states the exceptions as ‘extremely rare’, we can also assume that if someone who literally has nothing that could be Doomed or Dead around them, would be able to prototype just about anything.
I do wonder how far Hussie’s definition of ‘Doomed’ reaches. Would you swatting a fly against a wall count as something deceased the Kernel would like? Does it need to be bigger? The system is vague and flexible enough to headcanon quite a bunch of things. Hmmm… Bec wouldn’t quite be treated as ‘Doomed’ being a First Guardian would he? Thus being one of the few exceptions to the rule.
