i was thinking a lot last night about Rogues because people mainly say they're support and that's it but I saw a comparison between Rogues and Thiefs and batteries and I realized something. A Thief is like a battery which stores its aspect for its own benefit while a Rogue is like a battery but redirects its aspect for other uses, Rogues don't always have to give to people they just have to redirect their aspect back into the world (1/2)

That’s of course high speculation but it made me feel better about my classpect (Rogue of Space) when I realized that I could essentially have a nuclear warhead dropped on me and “steal” all the energy and force from the explosion for later use and redirect that explosion at an enemy (that could be considered giving them my aspect). Correct me if I’m wrong it’s just that I could see the Rogue and Thief being the passive and active absorbing classes (2/2)

See, here’s a thing about Active and Passive Classes- Even for the most Active and most Passive Classes, the most inflexible of them, we see them both making direct use of their powers and also allowing them through them. The Active/Passive difference implies what they’re most comfortable doing or what they have an easier doing, as well as, generally, whether their powers are more for their personal gain, or for some other purpose other than themselves.

As such, both a Thief and a Rogue may be able to steal the energy of a Nucelar Blast to use it later or benefit themselves or redirect it, depending on the context, and with different amounts of effort. As a Rogue, you could definitely use the stolen energy of a Nuke to radioactively empower yourself and your team, just the same as you could redirect the blast to destroy an enemy you’re having troubles with. But similarly, a Thief could use the stolen energy of a Nuke to give themselves a major energy buff, or redirect it in the same way as an offensive attack. Redirecting it ‘allows’ the blast to pass through them, while buffing directly ‘distributes’ their Aspect, both Passive and Active, both things you could make a case for. You could even switch it around though- Saying redirecting it is making direct use of the blast for yourself, and buffing is passively allowing the energy to empower someone. How you use your powers and what you can do with them being Active or Passive is highly determined by the context and your general goals. Something Passive to some may be Active to others, and even to the same person, in different situations, they may flip between one and the other. It’s this kind of thing that makes Classpects so incredibly nebulous to analyze, but also what makes them so /versatile/ that you can fit pretty much any power you can fathom into them and still have room to spare. If you THINK a Classpect may be able to do something, chances are it CAN do it.
