Wasn't it mentioned in homestuck that "alpha" represents players that are clones of themselves and beta as their ecto-children, while the pre and post scratch troll session was glitched - normal arrange of beta -> scratch -> alpha being swapped to alpha -> scratch -> beta. (with beta to alpha scratch being unnecessary as ectolabs seemingly being "beta"-exclusive, while alpha to beta would essentialy force players to scratch) I might be wrrong tho

I don’t quite remember the ‘Alpha’ and ‘Beta’ equivalency having been applied to the words Alpha and Beta rather than just the example of the Alpha and Beta Humans. Hell was SGRUB even a Beta? It was the compilation of the code by Sollux, I don’t think they referred to it as a ‘Beta’ did they? Rather, Beta and Alpha have just become words to differentiate between Groups of Players from the Same but Scratched Universes. I may be wrong though, if they do call SGRUB ‘Beta’ for the Trolls or ‘Alpha’ for the Ancestors at any point, or if they mention the Cloning stuff, it’s not something I quite recall.
