Okay. But. Silmarillion is a rather different work from Homestuck (in scope, what were they about and wordbuilding, and Tolkien was catholic) hovewer there were some interesting similarities. The main villain is a powerful being, that bound itself to medium in which the story proggressed (all matter in Arda and Alpha timeline in HS) to the point where only way to achieve victory against it is the destruction of medium. Destructive & tyranical entity that compromises free will of others.

Homestuck for all the shit some people give it, is an incredibly dense story with some extremely interesting topics. The fact Tolkien was catholic only adds similarities, though, Homestuck has a lot of symbology and thinks from various different religions and philosophical background, Gnosticism and Catholicism are referenced a bunch, as well as Egyptian and Greek Deities and Myths, so with that sort of Metaphysical Background, it only makes sense stories like that woulds hare similarities.

That being said I know 0 about Tolkien and his Work other than he was kind of a chill dude as far as I’ve heard, so yeah.
