Hello , as a follow up to that last person question ( since the topic of mages and sees of light came up ), what is the difference between a mage and seer of light ? Like how do they use/wield there knowledge as well as earn this knowledge

We see Rose gathering information from her Session, from the Horrorterrors, from the Trolls, and putting it together in a neatly intelligible package, but she still simply Knows the only way they’re getting out of the Furthest Ring without space-time bullshit. Similarly, while Meulin knows the pairings that’d work better, she also gathers information about relationships through gossip of who’s gotten with who for her matchmaking. As I’ve said before, Seers seem more predisposed to gather info, and Mages to intrinsically know things, but both can do either.

However, there IS a notable divide in the Comic. Rose takes it upon herself to bring the Tumor to the Furthest Ring- A suicide mission that’s in no way healthy for her. Terezi tries to stop Vriska herself, and ends up making a Choice that torments her for the rest of her life. Kankri rambles on trying to change what he perceives to be injustices, only to end up just being an annoying twat. Whenever Seers take action themselves, whether they’re successful or not, they seem to be in an unhealthy spot. However? When Rose guides the Meteor to reach the Session, it gets there just as planned, and the information she gathers helps and influences Calliope of all characters. Terezi’s most powerful use of her Powers was guiding John back through her Memories and making him change the Timeline by pin-pointing exact moments things could’ve gone differently, she doesn’t Change it herself, she tells him to F1X TH1S. The Sufferer didn’t try to stage the Rebellion himself- He gathered followers and showed them the good way he wanted Trolls to follow.

On the other side? Meulin takes it upon herself to be the Miracle Worker of the group, and that’s the main divide between Seers and Mages. Mages can be Passive, Seers can take direct action, but when it comes to what they prefer to do, and what they’re most effective at? Meulin directly tried to influence who people were getting paired with according to her vision of romance. Sollux took direct action to code SBURB as an attempt to save his Species, even though it ended up working the opposite intended way. The Sufferer’s Selfless Spread of his Knowledge to influence a Change in people, vs the Disciple’s Selfish Reclusion after his Death and direct Preservation of the Teachings she Knew so much about.

Seers and Mages are Prophets, with Seers more likely to try and make others See the way they do, and Mages trying to work Miracles to do things according to their Vision.
