I have a feeling that if Caliborn/Lord English hadn't been so phenomenaly stupid/unstable everyone would have been fucked. Since his Lord class would have given him the total dominion over time, he only used exclusively time travel because it was simple enough for him to grasp.

Oh boy, you underestimate the reach of Caliborn’s Lord of Time powers. Mr Buffskull’s desires just so happen to dictate, along with Calliope since he’s chasing after her, practically every main event that happens in Homestuck and what the Alpha Timeline requires. He may not actively use Time Fuckery that much himself, but he’s Predestination at its finest. He doesn’t need to take hold of the Timeline most of the time. He’s already there.
