If the definition for active players is that they do things for/to themselves and passive players do things for others wouldnt that make a heir active and a witch passive because heirs change into their aspect and let their aspect change them like john turning to air when he almost got stabbed by bec noir while i havent really seen any witches do things for themselves they change others with their aspect like jade making people/whole planets shrink/grow thanks for coming to my ted talk

You’re confusing Selfishness/Selflessness with Action and Reaction. By that same logic, too, you could say John allows his Aspect to change him while Jade directly changes the planets’ sizes.
