She surely wanted Karkat, but also, she wanted Equius to be safe, and was very friendly overall. Reducing Nepeta to merely liking Karkat is detrimental to her character as a whole. Furthermore, one of the reasons she WASN’T with Karkat was her lack of confidence in him reciprocating her f33lings. She didn’t have the confidence to actually go for it. And as the Rogue of Heart, it took until she was able to merge with Davesprite and combine into Davepeta, that she was able to find that boost of confidence, that she was able to start looking deeper, at herself, at her purpose, at being satisfied and content. Likewise, becoming Davepeta and being able to access Dave’s Ultimate Self, Davesprite also quickly saw his purpose and began to feel much better about his existence.
