What’s a patron troll??? How do you know who they are??? I’m so confused :( I need help please.

I mean isn’t that just a name given to the Troll that had the most interest in each of the Kids? Aiding them through the adventure and pushing them. And people tend to fanonically refer as their ‘Patron Troll’ to those Trolls they share a sign with.
