Were the Quills of Echidna the only weapon that were able to scratch through the Beat Mesa to initiate the Scratch?

Bro’s Sword was able to pierce it, but it’s hard to say if it would’ve worked to scratch it properly. The Quills seem to be the go-to weapon.
