This is probably a stupid and obvious question but how exactly does someone go grimdark? Like, what do the horrorterrors do that makes someone go grimdark?

I mean they are eldritch Gods that whisper to you in your sleep and probe your mind with their ichory probosci. Just your typical Lovecraftian corruption.
