I'm also confused about the trolls. I know with the kids, none of the alphas are related, but technically are parents to the beta kids so they're two brother sister pairs. But what about the trolls? Are the Beforus trolls the kids or the parents? Also are the Beforus trolls known as beta or alpha? Do we know which trolls mixed with which to get the "children" trolls?

I’ve answered this one, but it’s a common question. SGRUB on Alternia and Beforus, doesn’t have a ‘BETA’ or ‘ALPHA’ name, which is what makes it clear with the Kids. But Vriska does mention Aranea as her ‘Alpha Sister’, and they’re sort of mentioned to be the Alpha, on the grounds that they’re the ones that came first.

Karkat never tells us outright, but he implies, and we see in his flashback, that he first made the 12 Grubs that were themselves, and then a ‘redundant group of Grubs’ that happened to be the Ancestors/Dancestors. In this way, with the structure of Karkat’s Lab, every Prospit Dreamer Dancestor is ‘related’ to each other, and to every Prospit Dreamer of Karkat’s Group, and same with the Derse Dreamers. Of course though, Troll Genetic Slurry is already mixed pretty much like the Lab’s, so what counts is the ‘predominant’ genes that come through and make a Troll more or less similar than their Ancestor, ergo technically the only ‘related’ pairs are the Trolls who share the same symbol/surname. And even then, again, Trolls only have a concept relating to family because of Humans introducing it to them, otherwise not even that would quite matter. (And not like it even matters then to the desperate Eridan/Cronus in Ministrife)
