isn’t Creation a very vague verb to describe Maid and sylph, and is there adequate evidence that they are even counterparts? if anything, Maids and Witches share more similarities than sylphs and Heir being the counterpart to Maid is also narratively sound eg. “the heiress is the maid” or the fact that many speculate heirs to “embody” their aspect and Maids are described as being “made of” aspect and isn’t that the same thing? Correct this if i’m wrong but perhaps it would bring things to light

It is true that Maids and Heirs have some thematic similarities, and Witch and Sylph do too, specially with the talk of Sylphs being ‘more magical witches’, for the longest time I thought that was the pairing! However, that’s a shallow look at the Classes, and there’s actually more textual evidence that ties Sylphs and Maids, and Witches and Heirs.

First of all- Maids and Sylphs? Are the only Classes that have had an auto-resurrection ability, and consistently too. Feferi as the Witch of Life could HEAL people, but- Kanaya coming back as a Rainbowdrinker, Aranea taking the Ring, Aradia becoming a bot, then God Tiering, Jane resurrecting after Jack killed her… It’s a big thematic thing. Aradia is MADE of time, Kanaya MAKES the wand for Eridan, MAKES Space between people by auspisticing and by chopping them with her chainsaw, Jane MAKES life in both the sense she heals and also her cooking, Aranea pretty much establishes all the pre-scratch Troll Lore, and appears paralleling Vriska’s scene where she- Emulating Mindfang, tries to MAKE Tavros have happy thoughts. Making, Creation, Healing, Improvement, seems to be the basics of these Classes.

Witches and Heirs, however, have been quite linked with Magic! John is an aspiring Magician, and he’s had Familiars tag alongside him in his travels, with the most notable ones being WV- Literally referred to as a Chaffeur Familiar, and Liv Tyler. Likewise, Jade had Bec as a Familiar, and Rose, acting Witchy, had Casey and arguably Doc Scratch. And just like the way ‘Make’ is pivotal to Sylphs and Maids, Heirs and Witches also are heavily tied to Change- Feferi trying to Change the Hemospectrum for the better, Damara being Changed herself, suddenly, by all she was put through, Mituna Changing due to protecting others from a Doom he Changed, John embodying the power of Changing the entirety of the story however he saw fit, Jade’s transformation into a furry…

And sure, you could make a point about some things- Like Heirs having to be careful not to be consumed by their Aspect, while Maids seem to have issues with something regarding their Aspect, for example. Still though, some parallels are quite telling, and I feel Sylphs and Maids, and Heirs and Witches, are good pairs.
