Going to say this, Poinko liberally pandered with SJW's by saying that Lanque was a tranny. I was fucking pissed off about it and my only idea is that Lanque is just a male jade blood (a normal man) dressed in drag and wearing make up, like how Bugs Bunny (from Looney Toons) and Hector Rivera (from Coco) done it. I guess What Pumpkin fired him for doing so, right?

I would usually not even consider humoring a message like that, specially using the T slur and bullshitting like you’re the one who’s right, but let me just use this message to make the stance of this blog clear.

If you think having Trans Representation in a game is ‘SJW Pandering’ and resort to slurs to insult the collective for no reason other than your own spite, you can go fuck right off.

The fact you’re mentioning about ‘@poinko being fired’ means that you’re somehow invested in Homestuck, and if this is your point of view in life I honestly have no idea how that is even POSSIBLE. Homestuck is an incredibly progressive work, it may not start like that, but Hussie’s philosophy is one of exploring new territories and becoming less of a jaded asshole- Which you can see as he begins to introduce LGBT representation in the comic and tackles more personal issues such as abuse and trauma as the comic goes on. It’s not even subtext, and it definitely is not ‘pandering’.

By ‘pandering’ you’re just saying that you do not like the existence of Trans People being even acknowledged, which, again, is a thought that can fuck right off, and the same goes for anything regarding any other kind of diversity, from Race to Orientation. If you think having something deviate from the white bread mold you’ve been eating all your life is bad just because they’re not explicitly made for you like everything else is, you and Homestuck’s core themes are at odds with each other.

Also ‘Normal Man’, wow really? Lanque is a Trans Man. That doesn’t make him any less of a real or normal Man. And he’s also not the only LGBT character, you know? Cirava and Charun are both Nonbinary, Davepeta is Nonbinary, Dave is Bisexual, many characters go against what they consider to be the ‘Nature of their Species’ after they see it’s just Societal Conditioning withing their race, growing up beyond it. The Trickster Arc pokes fun at White Privilege comparing it to a careless Drug Trip in which the Kids lose all inhibitions and become gross caricatures of themselves. And when it comes to Headcanons and less explicitly noted things in canon, literally everything goes, and guess what, Homestuck wants you to have fun with Headcanons and see yourself in characters and do as you will.

A good chunk of the WhatPumpkin Staff is LGBT, and even if Hussie himself isn’t, he’s CERTAINLY an Ally of the community. When you wonder if ‘Poinko got fired for this’ and call Lanque slurs, coming here as if seeking validation, you’re exposing yourself, not just as a toxic member of the Fandom, but as part of the Toxic, Regressive bunch of the Society that thinks it’s funny to bash on people because they’re ‘different’.

But while these ideals can fuck right off, please feel free to send me more asks- Preferably not on Anon, or actually Message me! I want to give the benefit of the doubt, maybe you’ve been raised in a really toxic environment or are just following shitty trends online. If you’re just going to keep tossing slurs and hoping LGBT-positive people get fired, I’ll block you right away, but if you ACTUALLY want to have a serious conversation about the topic, by all means I am open!

Considering diverse media that include LGBT characters or PoC or Religions other than Christianity ‘SJW Pandering’ is nothing more than a stupid Buzzword, and all it tells me is ‘I don’t understand these issues, so instead of learning to be a better person I am going to criticize an entire subset of the population’, and it’s SPECIALLY hilarious and bad when it comes to HOMESTUCK of all things.

Edit: Also I forgot to add, Poinko wasn’t ‘fired’, most of the Team’s been shoved off to the side for re-structuring, and will likely come back once they are able to in the future to continue Act 2. Cohen also mentioned Lanque was a Trans Man, it’s not like it was only Poinko that did that, I don’t even think Lanque was Poinko’s design, numbnuts. The whole team is behind the idea, including Hussie.
