(1/2) in response to that cherub anon earlier, i've always considered callie receiving the ring to connect to what dave said about how they're people, not characters: a character doesn't have to be "useful" to the final fight in people's perspective to be allowed a chance at life. it's always been a pretty important message to me. alt!callie told her to live the life she never knew, and she did. it's the same with characters like karkat and jade when you look at their appearence in collide

(2/3) in other aspects. just because they didn’t get to fight cooly like the condesce and jack teams doesn’t invalidate everything they’ve gone through and the developments that are meaningful to themselves. it’s hard to put it into words but, callie just needed to be herself and live. she did play a major role prior to collide, the alphas only met thanks to her! but roxy didn’t need a reason, she didn’t need to consider callie’s worth to the narrative to bring her back to life

(3/3) i think the message was pretty intentional in the narrative itself too. there’s something i like to call the vriska theory of revelancy, when you tear into the story and decide which one deserves to live based on their usefulness. and we’ve observed it to be a pretty cruel thing when it was done in the story. homestuck is multifaceted and you can’t decide something like that because there’s always things you haven’t seen is what i think!

Yeah exactly- The narrative pushes very heavily the idea that your will is important and having other people impose themselves on you selfishly is evil. You don’t need to be use of a cause as long as you support those you care about and try to live your life and better yourself without being oppressive of others- And Callie really is the embodiment of all of this. She’s the Fandom, a creator of Fanart, of Theories, she loves everyone so much, of course she was going to live in the end.
