Do you think Dirk doesn't express himself emotionally because he thinks it will make him look weak? Or maybe because he wasn't socialized properly? Or because of his cool kid facade?

Hmmm. That’s a good question, I don’t think it’s just a facade. He IS extremely socially awkward, so that has to do, but also it may have to do with weakness- Not looking weak, but actually being weak. Dirk wants to be a rock for his friends, someone they can rely on- Remember his ‘I failed’? He’s torn about not having been able to help any of his friends, to have been completely useless. I feel more than him not wanting to look weak it’s him… Recognizing his weakness in the first place. I’m no psycho-analyst though.
