literally the worst thing is when people try to “challenge” popular fandom versions of characters and get it totally wrong themselves
for example people getting annoyed at rpers woobifying john, and then saying john is an ASSHOLE!!! don’t play him like a sweetheart!!!!!!
how about john can be both sweet and an asshole at times. just like every other living person on the earth.
because people are complex creatures, complex (and hypocritical) enough that painting them with the stereotype brush either way is hurtful and reduces them to stereotypes
i understand that the human mind works best through stereotypes, it’s hard for us to try to comprehend all the complexities of every single individual, but no one person is one way all the time
stereotyping is your mind being lazy and taking shortcuts. i highly suggest anyone who thinks someone is This Way 100% Of The Time reevaluates their thought process on that because it probably extends to stereotyping people irl too
