i’m kind of curious as to how Rhys ends up with Pirate!Jack. like did he go from ‘holy hell i’m being held hostage!’ to ‘Huh this guy is actually good looking???’ to ‘Well shit i’m smitten with the pirate now.’ to ‘I’m going to run away with this dashingly good looking pirate screw you Vasquez’. I am curious XD

I’ve not got any of this outlined in any way shape or form, and I’m kinda just doing pieces as they come to me, but I figure Jack uses the hostage situation to get himself out of being arrested/hanged. His actions shock Rhys more than anything but he’s not harmed and once he has a chance Jack high tails it to leaving town.

Before he can leave though Rhys shows up and is like “take me with you”. Obviously Jack is confused as shit. Like “I just used you to get out of being hanged wtf are you thinking?!” But Rhys hates Vasquez and his arranged marriage and his whole structured life so damn much. He just wants out of the pit he’s stuck in. He see’s Jack as an opportunity first and foremost, but he’ll admit Jack is handsome and wants to see him more.

Some time later Vasquez hears that someone saw his fiance leaving town with Jack, thinks he’s been kidnapped, and freaks out over it. Probably gets a rescue party or something together. He has to show how totally heroic he is to go and rescue his “helpless” fiance from the big bad pirate.
