My wonderful phone that sucks shit and explodes if you use it too much they could never make me hate you

Imagine if you will a time far far away. Imagine if, by some miracle of human advancement, humanity was able to develop technology advanced enough to go out onto space and far beyond the confines of our known galaxy, and they not only found inhabitable planets, but several different galaxies in which those planets could be found. Ok now imagine they invent capitalism in Space all over again. Innovation is impossible at this point but they will keep trying, and at some point one of the mega-corporations everything belongs to manage to create a device for communication. The device is sturdy and reliable, doesn’t have a lot of functions (Matter of fact it can only do like 4 things at the most), its nearly indestructible to break on command, but can explode in case of overuse and Oh my fucking god they invented THE FUCKING BRICK-PHONE NOKIA AGAIN

This little piece of junk is weirdly central to the narrative of how corporations view people in Pandora also tbh. Like, ‘Bandits’ aren’t allowed to use the echonet using an echo device, it’s exclusive to “Civillians”, usually in Dahl settlements. Imagine if you couldn’t use the internet because you live just outside the border of the military settlement that got set up Right Outside your house. I’d also start killing people tf

POV: you are a BL1 vault hunter. you have just been handed the worst shitbox of a comms device you have ever seen. the only contacts you have on it are the robot you just met and a teenage girl who inexplicably knows your exact location and encourages you to do dangerous shit.

another highlight of the echos is that it seems that there are completely open lines of communication that anyone can tap into like a discord vc. because why does handsome jack have my personal phone number.
