He slows when he arrives to a door that leads him out to a platform. He gets to look down at the mess of cubicles from his platform and he claps his hands, loud and clear, to grab everyone’s attention when he thinks, well, some of them are just lazing around. Everyone is skidding and stomping to a stop or stand, and shudders run through them all as Rhys smiles and laughter escapes through perfect teeth.
“I hope you’re all working hard!” Rhys sings out, and the laughter is heavier and hanging around his worker’s throats like nooses, and something is flickering behind him, blocky and blue and shaking. “We really, really don’t need to have any bad cases on our hands, so if I see you’re not working—” he doesn’t finish his sentence, merely gives them a darling smile, and his ECHOeye is looking them all over.
