sariel’s hometown, alanar, is being protected by a magical barrier that is rapidly failing. we found out that it was being powered by drow in the northdark beneath the city as part of an old deal the council made with them, which they were VERY keen on keeping secret from the rest of the city. the party got enlisted in heading down to the northdark by a pair of drow twins, nyx (runepriest) and malice (bard), to help them and get the barrier unfucked.

before we left, they told us about how this place called the inverted tower went dark and that the two of them got seemingly ejected from it while everyone else (including their father & sister) remain trapped inside. however, in our most recent session, aeleyn got malice to open up while they were keeping watch and malice admitted it isn’t entirely true. they saw what happened in the tower: their father was performing some sort of ritual and, while nyx fought to stop him, he killed their sister for it. seeing their father kill their sister broke nyx entirely, and in order to save him, malice erased his memory of it.
