December 2019

Currently mid-way through trying to recreate the mask keychain from BL3 as an actual keychain. Drafted with plasticine base which I decide to freeze hard and used as a base for epoxy (Milliput.) All the detail in the base model was essentially a waste of time, as it warmed up much too fast to preserve more than the basic structure. I had to recreate all the detail in the soft epoxy, and firm it up as it cured. The general idea worked though, as it created a thin, hollow mask with interior shape. Would have made more sense to make a very low detail base in epoxy, cover in foil or film as a re-usable base, then build up the epoxy on that. Lessons learned! A bit more detailing and work needed on this (esp brows, clasps, forehead, sidies), then I’ll fix a keychain and think about painting it.

Painting finished! I now have my own creepy mask trinket. 👍  Learned some lessons about doing hollow stuff with epoxy. Phew.

(I know forehead is too big; I fixed the ring eye thing there, and can’t make myself do any more filing or sanding. clasp was as small as I could go.)
