"Karnaca Gazette" fragment. it says:
"CLOCKWORK MANSION SEALED BY THE DUKE"

"The Jindosh Estate, known to many as the Clockwork Mansion, has been seized to serve Empress Delilah Copperspoon as confirmed by a new statement by the Grand Palace. This proclamation includes revised rules to property seizures, which will no longer require prior notice or approval.

The Upper Aventa Quarter is subject to additional security measures, effective immediately. The rail car has been rendered inoperational until any unconfirmed reopening of Jindosh Clockworks." (this part of the text is hidden by the next panel)
--
Corvo: Is this what you took the skiff for?
Meagan: Not exactly. But as a good captain i should keep my passengers up with the news.
--
Sokolov: Far more resistant than I expected of you, Meagan.ALT
--
Kirin: Morning.
--
Kirin: There's something I want to dis-
Meagan: Same. Check this out.
Kirin (reading the newspaper): Wait - // What?! // Confiscated by the Duke?! // ...
--
Kirin: All of my soldiers...
Meagan: Or what's left of them.
Kirin: Don't add insult to injury.ALT
--
Kirin: This moron! He would've had his throat slit years ago if not for my clockworks! // Traitors! // How dare he use my attainments like that!
--
Kirin: First Corvo breaks in unnoticed- wreaks havoc throughout my home, I get kidnapped! And instead of searching for me I'm discarded like some kind of a tool. // Humiliating...Do they think that was all I was worth? // Whatever. Delilah can make fun of me all she wants, but we'll see who laughs last.
--
Meagan: What do you mean "make fun of you"? You talked to her?
Kirin: Yes. Through a dream. Each day our Empress surprises us with a new power.
--

this isnt text in the comic
Kirin tries to take a grag from his vape finger. there is none (likely because they were lost during him being "transferred" to the wale) and he looks semi-surprised
!NO VAPING ON THE WALE!ALT
--
Sokolov: Perhaps if your pride aside, Kirin, you'd see the real danger Delilah poses for everyone. Including you.
--
Corvo: How does destroying the lenses help bring down Delilah?
Kirin: If flawed, Delilah will no longer influence the Abbey, and Breanna's connection to the void will be lost.
--
Kirin: If i make flawed lenses - And you'll switch them out - Breanna won't die, but she'll become powerless. - To her, it will be worse than death! ALT
--
Sokolov: I hope I won't have to complain to Meagan once they're back. // But I'm surprised to sit beside you again, Kirin. // Almost as colleagues, almost voluntarily.
--
Kirin: You've recovered swiftly. // Remarkable, given the strength of my machine...and your age.
--
Sokolov: None of your elaborate machinery could ever cause more anguish to me, than I do. // I'm sure you're grateful I convinced Corvo not to strap you to it, though I'm not holding my breath for your thanks. // Who knows what would remain of the Grand Inventor, had he fallen victim to his own creation.ALT
--
Kirin: Oh, get off your high horse! // Who knows what I'd have created, had I remain in the Academy. // You stand *no* chance against *any* of you machines! // What is you stepped in a wall of light, has it malfunction? // Do I idly bring up tossing your frail body into an arc pylon? No!
--
Sokolov: We both know the price of progress in paid in blood. Which means we have to sacrifice our own, too. // We may hold resentment towards each other all we want, but only our collaborative effort will result in victory.ALT
--
Kirin: Did you prepare this speech?
Sokolov: Merely recalled what Piero Joplin ranted at me back in the time I was forced to call a dog cage on the outskirts of Dunwall home.
Kirin: You what?
--
Sokolov: Hardly my proudest moment. Though, for better or for worse, nit my lowest, either. // Whether you like it or not, your legacy will mirror mine: an uncommon genius, both to shape the Empire. Gilded by the right hands, you could have saved lives.
--
Sokolov: But you / like me // You're a little better than a weapon. // Or, who knows, your clockworks will remain as a decoration in corvo's quarters.
Kirin: Wh- No??
Sokolov: I thought you've seen it.
Kirin: I haven't been to his room.
"Yet." - is implied to be said by both of them.ALT
--
Sokolov: Corvo adds a new item to his little collection after each visit to the land.
--
Sokolov: Although it's his writing that interests me most. // For a man of so few words, his journal entries are very entertaining.
--
Sokolov: The rule everyone aboard the Wale should know: Keep your secrets to yourself or consider them public domain.
--
"Later..."
Kirin is begrudging at Corvo; words aren't specified.
Corvo: I love me a good souvenir.ALT

Dishonored meta: Religion and the Abbey of the Everyman

ladysmaragdina:

Or, “Restrict the lying tongue – you keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.”

I’m writing this meta for three reasons. One, because every time August rolls around my brain kicks into “go back to school” mode and I need to do some heavy academic reading and analysis. Two, because I want to write a post about Burrows and science and rationalism and nationalism in a newly-industrialized Dunwall, and this has to come first. Three, because there’s been an opinion/AU floating around fandom that I want to address.

Overseers are not simply priests. Teague Martin is not a priest.

There, I said it.

Now let me explain: Teague Martin is not a priest, because the Abbey of the Everyman is not a religion. The Abbey is couched in religious terms, certainly. It is “the religious faction,” Overseers are “zealots,” followers are “faithful,” the High Overseer is “the most pious man in the Empire,” those who do not follow it are “heretics” and “apostates,” and so forth. It surrounds itself with the trappings of a religion – sermons, prayers, the Seven Strictures, people seeking ‘spiritual guidance’ (I’ll explain why I put that term in quotes later). The Abbey believes itself to be a religion. The game presents it as a religion. It’s useful and easy for us to call it a religion.

It’s not.

Now. If I’m going to claim that the Abbey isn’t a religion, I need to define what a religion is.

Here’s my gift for @hith3r3p33ps for the @dishonoredgiftexchange Fugue Feast

The prompt I chose was “Emily and wolfhounds”

I loved all of the prompt but this one clicked with me and I had so much fun doing it

I thought that since in dh2 there is a bonecharm that makes white wolfhounds attack their owner then what if it also made them non hostile towards the player. And since Emily collects things that she found during the missions then what if she took it a step further.

Emily says “my doggy now”

My @dishonoredgiftexchange gift for @finnplaydough!!

The prompt I decided to go with was “cryptid Brigmore Witches”, so here’s an overseer attempting their best at figuring out the rumours, collect the rare sightings, make sense of the curious case.

Hope you like it! Have a great weekend :)
