Ah! All this game digging you're doing is quite interesting! I hope you keep posting your findings, they're super rad. How are you managing to do it? Teach me your secrets owo

aaa thank you!! I do plan to post some more animation gifs, there’s some interesting bits in the files.

it’s actually pretty easy to get at most of this info — if you’ve got Transistor on steam, find your Steam folder (by default it’s in C:\Program Files\Steam\), then head to steamapps\common\Transistor. most of the interesting stuff is going to be in the Content folder. do also be really careful not to change or edit any files if you open them, of course!

the Subtitles folder is particularly interesting; this is where, obviously, many of the subtitles from the voice-overs in game are located (in a few different languages! ‘en’, of course, for english). note these are not necessarily in any sensible order.
right-click these files and select ‘Open with’ and choose Notepad, don’t let them open as an Excel spreadsheet or whatever they might want to open as. do also be careful not to edit or change these files, I’m not sure how it might frick up your game if you do!

I haven’t yet been able to figure out how to pull individual sound files out; I’m not a programmer at all, just fumbling around in folders here, so I’m hoping someone more code-gifted can figure this out for me haha
(it’s gonna kill me if I never get to hear some of the cut lines)

as for the animations, it’s really simple actually: the files for those are in the Movies folder!
I export the animations as a video file, then convert the video to gif.
many of the animation files are actually somewhere in the range of 300+ frames, since they play the same animation at every possible view angle (which I believe is 16 in total). for some of the longer animations (such as this one), all 16 angles can wind up making a gif over 3MB, so I clip it down to a single angle to make a more manageable (and tumblr-friendly) file.

and on that note if anyone would like a specific angle of a particular animation, drop me an ask!

(I can also post all of the subtitled files if anyone who has the PS4 version or whatever would like them? seems like they’d probably be pretty handy for fanfic authors?)
