Okay, first off: sorry for the late response. This was a super interesting question, and it took me a little while to peg how exactly I wanted to exhibit their souls.

Every soul is unique in the universe, with cracks and imperfections and a host of stories to tell from the shade of the colors it exudes to the rhythm of its beat. No two souls are the same.

Some breakdowns below the cut.

Warning: long post.

REMINDER:: I am not the creator of this AU, and these are just my personal interpretations of the characters. Feel free to take the question over to @axetale if you’d rather have the actual creators’ spin on things.

Heeeeere it is~ had to comb through her whole blog lol. But! I did find some other things I wanted to share again, so ^^ bonus.

Can Sans fool around? Like start tickling Aliza pretending to be a pirate in this situation. Yohoho~~

@axetale by @thebananafrappe and @azulandrojo‘s AU aaand @mercy-monster

Aliza stared into the monster that was supposedly her father’s empty, dark sockets, a quake of fear trembling down her spine. He was so cool and calm and snarky around the house, sometimes she forgot what he was beneath the smile and laughter and indulgence of his family.

Sans the skeleton was a cold blooded killer, a monster that killed and consumed his own kind, an insane, homicidal being that would have killed her too had she not been his own child.

And looking into his flat, empty expression, his hand hard around her wrist… nothing had ever been more clear to her.

Her inquisitive smile faltered, her soul clenching in her chest and her eyes flashing a warning red, as Sans sat up from the couch, looming over her intimidatingly…

And dug the phalanges of his other hand into her side, tickling her and grinning so broadly at the sound of her uncontrolled giggles that his skull nearly split in half. She dropped the pen she held, collapsing to her knees beside the couch, but he gave her no mercy, releasing her wrist so he could use his other hand to tickle her as well, kneeling at her side on the floor and snickering at her wails of laughter.

“sneaky little one, aren’t you? think you’re so clever, sneaking up on your old man like that…”

He tickles her breathless, til she’s laying on the threadbare carpet wheezing, and picks up the pen himself, leaning on a bended knee and doodling on her own tear stained face.

“did you ‘ink’ you could get away with it, precious? ‘drawing’ all the wrong conclusions, heh.”

If this isn’t just the cutest damn thing I don’t know what is. Well, cute for Axetale

Thats a long silly one😅 Could aliza do a scary face, like Sans in ut in the restaurant, or could she train it, because i have this funny scene in my mind since i wanted to ask this question.😁 Sans sitting on the one side and do his scary face, and aliza sitting on the side, doing strange faces, because she got scared by Sans.😁

I don’t think she’s really big on it, honestly. Sans is scary enough for the both of them.

She knew.

Sans clutched at his shattered skull in the darkness of his bedroom, rocking on the edge of his filthy mattress and cackling under his breath.

She had answered the call of the justice in her soul, and seen his crimes, the blood on his hands and the sins on his back. She knew the extent of his LV. She knew the state of his soul. She knew what he was, more than monster in species, but in name and deed, and he had seen her fear.

She should fear him. He had murdered children. Friends and companions. Families as they cowered and begged for mercy. By proxy, he had killed his wife. He had even hurt Papyrus, far more than once. She should know him for what he was, the savage cannibal that had sacrificed his own soul for life…

But he had never wanted her to.

Sans ground his teeth together, flinching when he felt one of his molars crack but not stopping, if anything only grinding harder. The pain was reality, grounding him in his storm of iniquitous strife.

Of course, she was untrained in the true magic of Justice… she wouldn’t remember the true breadth of what she had seen, not in anything but her worst nightmares… but she would remember enough. He wouldn’t be surprised to find her gone the next day, leaving him to his well-deserved fate.

Uneven laughter melting into shuddering sobs, Sans leaned over his knees and dug his claws into the bone of his skull, as though trying to tear it into pieces. His locket clanked against his teeth unheeded, blackened tears clinging to its jewel-toned curves.

“what’ve i done… what’ve idone…”

He didn’t remember hearing her come in. He’d thought he’d locked the door, how could she get in? He always locked the door. But there she was, when he emerged from his consuming depression late in the night, curled up against his side on the dirty mattress and fast asleep. Her phalanges were laced between his, clenched tight and warm against his frozen bones, and he could do nothing but stare, his smile small but true.

He said nothing, noting the blackened wetness on the cuffs of her hoodie’s sleeves with blase resignation (still cleaning up messes that weren’t any of her concern… that was her mother in her), and only laid beside her on the bare mattress, trying not to disturb her.

He would find no rest that night, but with her there to steel his soul, and gift her unspoken confidence in him… he, at least, would find peace.

And that mattered more than all the human souls in the entire multiverse.

Chapter 10

Eldritch Corruption: Animal

https://archiveofourown.org/works/20857010/chapters/52987039

They say that love, above all else, will conquer.

They say that if one cleaves to their partner, they shall not want.

They say that true love never dies.

                       They.

                               What do they know.

The branches of the forest, in their eternal storm of disquiet and frozen torture, creaked and moaned in the darkness, the shadow of what the monsters called night. The rushing of a river in the distance tore into whatever restfulness the eve may have held with razor-sharp fangs, pitiless and cruel as the creature astride it, and the shattering of a tree, dead and frozen to its core, rattled the remaining peace any mind present could dream to have.

The padded feet of a shadow darting through the trees, so light it barely made dents in the drifts of snow, made no such noise. The cloak the shadow clutched to it, pitch and blacker yet than the fallen night, rustled no more loudly than a single leaf caught in a light breeze. Its breath was muffled, cowled and hidden, and left no mark on the frigid air.

It left no mark of its passing but for the gleam of steel, and the glow of madness in a single, intelligent eye.

No, it left no trace, made not a single sound, and for good reason; the shadow was not the only beast that prowled the night, that clawed for position as an apex predator, and there were others, bigger, stronger, smarter others, that would gladly end it.

That was not allowed. The shadow would not fall, not now, not ever.

*Not now, my love. Not ever.*

The shadow let out the quietest of huffs, falling still and silent in the shade of a great, ancient pine. Another beast moved in the darkness of the midnight forest, stalking the edge of the path only a few yards away… it sniffed both hopefully and hungrily along the flags, in search of a trail.

The bandage around its missing eyes was clear, even in the dim light… the rags it wore over its heaving, pustule studded back and the spiked collar around its neck clearer.

They had been friends, once, long ago. Long before the angel and the end times. They had grown up together, they and he. Gone to the same school, had the same aspirations.

No longer. Not since the growling in their belly, not since the breaking of their heart.

*Not broken anymore, my soul. Never again.*

The shadow watched the remains of their old compatriot drag himself away down the path, a trail of bloody paw prints in his wake, and suppressed the hunger that badgered its mind. It was foolish to pick a fight with him, just over food.

They would have their battle one day, but not this one.

The shadow turned on their heel the moment the hideous dog monster shuffled out of sight and earshot, dodging across the path and into safer territory. There was good meat here, while the deer slept. Little monsters, fast but stupid. They fell for the trap every day, after all… only idiots would.

*Only idiots, my pet. And we’re not idiots, no.*

Most of them would be asleep now, in their little blood-soaked warrens, in their nests made of bones. Easy to find, just by the smell of them, and always close to the ground. Taking to the trees was no safer, after all… above belonged to Gyftrot.

All it took was the lightest of feet-

*Easy and careful, watch the twigs…*

 The deftest of hands-

*Too fast, my love, too fast, they will hear…*

 The surest of sight-

*You have them now, just a little more…*

Before one of their skinny necks was in their clutches, squealing and scaring away the rest but it was too late, too late for their puny claws, little knives but theirs were mighty and sharp, sharp as the blades on their backs and just as vengeful, all there was was the need to feed, feed them both and keep the madness at bay, the madness that ate at the magic in their veins and twisted their spine and narrowed their vision, but it was sharp, so sharp, as sharp as the blades on their backs-

The tear of the flesh and the rip of the tendons, rich meat on the tongue; the shatter of bones and the misery on the air, music to their ears and torture, torture, it was too near and close and the blood ran down their maw and stained their paws, white become red, red, red redredred-

     Dogamy-

     What had she done-

*Hush, my darling. It had to be done, to save us both. Now, we are together.*

The shadow, shaking and whimpering, tail tucked between their legs, nodded slowly, the whining, cringing meal in their claws ignored. The snow at their feet was stained red, crimson with gore and consequence and memory, their scarred, disfigured face, revealed in their gorging, just as marked.

A single tear, black as pitch and the night and the cloak he had once worn, ran down from the reddened, staring eye in the center of their face, lidded and stricken.

(“Together…”), the shadow murmured, serrated fangs parting to break the frigid air with a voice unused to speaking, and smiled brightly into the thin air, tail gaining the air and wagging back and forth in earnest.

 *Always.*
