Hi! First time asker, and I was just curious, you said that the number of monsters in the underground was just a percentage of what there once was. My question is, will the underground ever run out of monsters? What would happen if they hunted each other to extinction, and Sans's fam couldn't find any more to eat?
One day, if nothing happens to change the status quo, that is exactly what will happen. The monsters will, one by one, all perish as the Hunger grows worse and worse, until at last they are all gone, even our little skeleton family perishing.
And when they have all gone, Flowey withering along with them, the Glitch would close, the Barrier would fall, as there is no magic left to guard, and the Underground would be nothing more than another ancient, abandoned civilization, hidden from the sun beneath the mountain.
Until the CORE’s reactor explodes and destroys the mountain, the countryside, and the nearby city, that is, promoting a worldwide nuclear war that very nearly extinguishes all life on earth and leading civilization back to the dark ages.
Eventually, as all things tend to do, things would settle. The world would turn, the stars would wheel overhead, and as life always finds its way, so too would magic find its way back into the world. It begins small, like a seedling emerging from the ashes after a fire, and grows and grows until new creatures begin to form, with new magic never seen before, and the cycle of souls is allowed to continue, restoring balance to the universe that hadn’t been seen for thousands of years.
And that, my friends, is how Wild AU begins~
