you mentioned that Saimarith is half-born, but is there anyone who he thinks of as being family? Perhaps a vat-made or another incubus that he works with frequently?

what is Nero's relationship with Abelard like?

Saimarth scorns everyone in Commorragh. Considering his birth, the concept of a family is beyond his understanding. When he was in the Kabal, and then as an acolyte in his Shrine, forming a deep connection with someone required a level of trust that he could not afford until he became Incubus. He sees himself as superior to everyone, even though he is a half-born and his small Shrine can’t boast of big success. He just believes that his ambitions are greater than those of others. Saimarith especially loathes Archons and other hierarchs, who don’t recognise his potential to be more than a mere spy for their rivals. He sees other Drukhari as creatures with empty existence, consumed by the pleasure of pain and intoxicated by the suffering of others, with no purpose in life other than to stab each other mindlessly and prolong the moment of being consumed by She Who Thirst. In his Shrine, he has only a few companions among the veterans who share his point of view. At least he can turn his back without worrying about being killed from behind by them, as there is no competition between them.
But that’s it.

Nero respects and trusts Abelard as much as anyone else, understanding that he is probably not the heir Werserian would like to see as the next Rogue Trader. In the past, Nero had killed many officers from the Navis Imperialis while leading pirate void vessels, so he assumed that Abelard might see him as an enemy and try to fix the mistake he had made by asking Nero to take over the Rogue Trader position in the dare time. However, Abelard only proved his loyalty to his new captain, and all of Nero’s fears about his seneschal’s intends faded away over time.
Nero values him and his family members. By making the Werserian house stand above the noble houses in Dragonus, he showed who he really trusts.

Abelard’s tutelage stirs something in Nero’s memory. Although he doesn’t remember his father well enough to be certain, something in Abelard’s tone makes him feel as though Abelard treats him as a father would. This does not annoy him as much as it might. Sometimes Nero listens to his advices.
