Annotations for Screenager

Lyric: Hide from your family, they won’t know you now
Annotation:
Considering that Screenager is a song from the perspective of a teenager, this line shows a disconnect from their family. Much like the rest of the lines from this album, it can be seen a lot in modern society. And we are seeing a lot more children being raised by technology, and less so their parents.

Lyric: For all the holes in our souls host no thrills
Annotation:
the parts of our souls that are missing/that were ruined by life aren’t exciting. They aren’t relevant and new, therefore, they host no thrills

Lyric: Hide from the mirror—the cracks and the memories
Annotation:
hide from yourself; your reflection. The cracks could be from a broken mirror resembling cracks in life, the memories, either causing nostalgia or the bad memories of your childhood.

Lyric: Who you were
 Was so beautiful
 Remember
 Who, who you were
Annotation:
S/he was a better version of themselves before they became self-destructive; also refrences the line “all the scars on your skin” because s/he cuts themselves. S/he is more depressed than they were in their younger, happier years.

Lyric: All the scars on your skin post no bills
Annotation:
Meaning with “Post no bills” that all her scars wont get her any attention.
