I have made so many posts today.

Anyway, I saw @dathen’s tags on one post on how Jon in fanon gets made into BBC Sherlock and I thought that that kind of happens with canon Sherlock as well. (Wait, that’s not quite what I mean. Keep reading; that didn’t make much sense.)

Canon Sherlock and canon Jon are both very smart, a bit weird (maybe more in the case of Sherlock, although there were more conventions back then too), and can come across as a bit cold or rude sometimes.

But BBC Sherlock seems completely uncaring and very superior (from what I remember from watching it a year and a half, or rather ten eons ago). He makes people feel dumb. Canon Sherlock does not do that. He always explains everything to Watson. He’s actually really modest about it and says “oh you’ll think it was so easy when I say”. He’s never mean.

I guess both Sherlock and Jon kind of got twisted into this cold, uncaring, just-intelligent character where they’re not. I don’t know what the common thread is here or why? (I know both of them are often read as neurodivergent, and Sherlock is readable as asexual, while Jon is ace, and there is the stereotype of being unfeeling for both those characteristics, so I’ve a certain sinking feeling.)
