Probably people have noticed this but it really makes perfect sense that Martin is so jealous. I mean, it’s irrational—Oliver never spoke to Jon, and Helen was not exactly flirting with him or something. But it makes sense. 

Okay, so you know how the Lonely and the Corruption are kind of opposites. In a way? Like, getting corrupted usually follows being lonely. Like in the new statement, “A Hole In The Ground”, the main character was really lonely, and that made way for the creature to siphon her life away and have her give everything to it. If you’re lonely, you want to be loved. And the Corruption promises that. 

But the Corruption is all about toxic love. Jealousy and clinginess. And Jon just pulled Martin out of the Lonely. He had no one. And now he had Jon. Of course he is clingy. Of course he doesn’t want Jon to be with anybody else. 

I mean, I can pull an example or two from my own life. I’m a pretty lonely person myself (partly from hearing loss, as it’s kind of isolating, honestly, but that’s another story) and for a long time only had one friend. And right around the time when I made that friend I saw her hanging out with another person (which is how you live, I know, I was eight) and was jealous. Just platonically. 

So once they’re somewhere else, Martin had better get some friends so he can deal with Jon talking to other people and caring about them. Because it may make perfect sense for his character, but it’s not a good thing. It could go really badly.
