I was listening to Across The Street again for…background Jon (as in background music, don’t ask)…and I’m confused by the sentence in this paragraph?

“I’d be tempted to dismiss this as hallucination resulting from long-term head trauma complications, but Tim came through with this one and managed to get hold of Ms. Patel’s medical records. God knows how he got them, but he’d better not be using Institute funds to woo filing clerks again. The records just don’t support the idea she was suffering those sorts of problems. Not to mention I usually trust co-worker testimony as far as I can burn it, but her job really doesn’t seem like the sort you could do with a compromised sense of reality. Ms. Patel has refused our request for a follow-up interview and seems to be trying to distance herself from these events.“

I don’t really get what he means by coworker testimony. I remember Jon also saying something about not trusting stuff from people in academia as it might be a trick, but Amy doesn’t work in academics.

I mean, it appears to be talking about Tim, but isn’t that an odd choice of words for Tim walking into his office and saying “yeah, she didn’t have head trauma”? I am just. Unnecessarily confused.

Edit: I have been helped to understand what this means now. That sounds so ominous, and it’s not (just look in the notes), but I am not going to change the wording to be less dramatic.
