I am currently reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, and it has so many weird little similarities to TMA. For example:
- There is a door motif through the whole thing. Doors are important. How important, you say?
- Well, one of the characters has door-opening powers, and someone literally says (something like) “she’s the only one that can open this specific door”. I started reading this on October 18. It was weird.
- Also there’s a line something like “this padlock wants to open. You just have to let it do what it wants” which just. Sounds a lot like the ritual door.
- You get to watch people’s dreams at one point.
- Someone says “lead on, Macduff”. Someone else corrects it, but not to Person A. Still. I was just like !!!!!!!
- Oh, and it takes place in London.
