Okay, it’s tomorrow now.

So last night what I was thinking is that both Jon and Hamlet are very intellectual characters. When presented with the supernatural (Hamlet’s dad’s ghost in his case) they’re skeptical. Hamlet decides to see if what the ghost (who is confusingly also named Hamlet) says is true by putting on that play for the king. They both decide not to die at one point, too.

While there is a ghost in Hamlet, there is way more spookiness in Macbeth. There are witches and vague prophecies and ghosts. Macbeth immediately believes what the witches say about him becoming king, but Hamlet probably wouldn’t. Interestingly, in both TMA and Macbeth, a vacation of a position of power happens early on, and the reason is murder. (This is where the resemblance between Gertrude and Duncan ends. Besides that they’re both old, I guess.)

Jon is a very intelligent person placed into a world that doesn’t make sense, is all I’m saying.
