I think there’s something to the fact that people who are nice to Jon (and others) tend to be more inhuman in Season 5, and people are mean to Jon (and others) tend to be more human. Not kind, necessarily, just nice. It’s definitely not a hard-and-fast rule, but it’s still interesting.

I mean, Martin, Basira, and probably Melanie are all rude to him at some point. I can’t remember, but I think Georgie’s better about it, so that’s an exception. Salesa is apparently not an avatar, and he’s all gloaty and bullies Jon. This is, unfortunately for Jon, the more consistent pattern.

Helen is nice to Jon and Martin. It’s all a lie, but I’m not arguing kindness here. Annabelle, from what I remember, is nice to Jon and Martin. She clearly enjoys messing with them and traps Martin in a web, but she’s not rude. (Not saying that that makes her good. Again, that’s not the point.) Simon’s nice to him too, and while he apparently looks like some old dude, he’s like 500 so the Vast is sustaining him. Exceptions to the rule are Jared, the Not!Them, Breekon*, and Jude Perry. Even Jonah isn’t rude to Jon, but his humanity is kinda debatable? I would say he’s probably in this category.
