“perhaps I have never even seen a beach” implies that it’s possible Annabelle has literally never seen a beach. Not in a picture book, not in a magazine. Just. Straight-up. Never seen any kind of coastline, no shores of lakes or oceans or…even rivers? Do rivers have beaches?

I realize the point of her saying this (and that that’s probably…not what she means), but taken literally, the statement is so wild.
