It is funny that, just in the normal aspects of their job, the archive crew have it really good. They get good pay doing white-collar work and so what if they can’t leave? If it were a normal job, they probably wouldn’t want to. And their boss would quite literally die for them, which is not a thing. Except with Jon, that is.
