ugh i am back, i love the timjon so much, and i am dumping it all here, (sorry) but like jon working overtime on a friday, and tim practically dragging jon out of the institute because there is no way he is letting elias keep jon over the weekend, tim is sooo petty, he takes/forces jon with him home, perhaps even mid statement and everything, possessive tim go brrrrr

Once more weird AU where Elias is still at the institute season 4, and Jon is still basically homeless because of course no one thought Mr. Coma would need a house, but it’s fine Tim is here. Also communication is not their strong suit. I hope this is good I don’t know what I’m writing anymore. (Also never apologize for sending things lovely anon I love these dumb idiots so much.)

“So are we planning to stay here all weekend again?” Jon didn’t bother to glance at Tim, sprawled out across the couch he had insisted on dragging into Jon’s office. If Jon insisted on still working in his office like this was a real job, Tim would at least be comfortable. Tim had ignored Jon’s suggestion that he didn’t need to constantly be in his office, that was crazy talk. “Or can we go home?”

Tim watched Jon for a moment as he he shuffled through the papers on his desk, picking up one set, glancing at the top page, setting it aside. Picking up another only to immediately crinkle his nose in disgust and placing it on the far side of his desk, grumbling under his breath about time wasters. Tim wondered if the whole ritual could be comparable of going through a fridge when you’re hungry but not sure what you want. Tim couldn’t help but needle Jon a bit, joking about the horror of their respective situations was a perfectly valid coping mechanism in his opinion. “What that one not to your taste?”

“It’s fake,” Jon said with the same tone one might use when discarding rotten food. Tim couldn’t help being a bit curious, leveraging himself off the couch to take a look, but a glance few the first few lines of what was clearly someone’s creative writing project did not hold his attention long.

“Okay but you didn’t answer my first question,” He tossed the papers aside, not really caring as they scattered across the floor, and ignoring Jon’s pointed look as he leaned over the desk placing a hand over the sheaf of papers Jon had just picked up pinning them to the table. He was careful to keep his hands suitably cool and not on fire, not in the mood to actually upset Jon by torching one of his meals.

“Considering my current living situation, what other option do you think I have?” Tim didn’t flinch as Jon snapped at him before trying to busy himself with work again. Halfheartedly attempting to free the papers pinned by Tim’s hand before giving up with a sigh, crossing his arms across his chest, clearly attempting to look stern, but looking more like he was pouting. “I don’t have a flat anymore-”

“Well you’re coming to mine of course,” Tim interrupted, wondering where the communication lines had gotten crossed already. It only made sense to him. Okay so maybe he hadn’t thought to actually ask Jon if he wanted to stay with him, but it would keep him safe and unharmed. Well relatively unharmed, Tim amended the thought with a swift glance at the burn marks on the desk. He had figured Jon’s whole staying in the Archives was temporary, Jon being Jon, not a permanent thing.

“Oh,” Jon blinked a bit like a deer caught in the headlights, as though the thought had not occurred to him. Tim had forgotten with tho whole all knowing bit that he could sometimes be a bit oblivious. “I-I can’t impose like that on you, besides Elias did mention that leaving the Institute would be-Tim!”

“Shit, sorry” Pulling his hand back quickly Tim was relieved to see that he had only singed the paper slightly. He hadn’t mean to lose control, and he wasn’t even sure if it was anger at whoever had managed to so thoroughly crush Jon’s self worth, ignoring the guilt at how he was likely not completely innocent at Jon’s self esteem issues himself, or if it was just the mention of Elias. Taking a deep breath Tim tried to relax, shoving the want to punch Elias in his smug face back into the corner of his mind, he decided it was a combination. He had almost managed to cool off when the phone on Jon’s desk rang, and Tim didn’t exactly need three guesses to know who it was. Snatching the phone before Jon could, Tim ignored the scent of burned plastic as he put the phone to his ear, “You’ve reached the Archives, Fuck off.”

“Hardly appropriate language for work Tim, I was calling to talk to my Archivist,” The casual possessive tone he used when talking about Jon made him want to burn his tongue right out of his posh head. As always he wished he could set Elias on fire through the phone, or just go up there and do so in person, and once more he reminded himself that it would be potentially fatal to everyone in the building, still a nice daydream.

“He’s busy,” Tim ignored Jon’s attempts to grab the phone, keeping it out of his reach easily enough.

“I see,” Killing Elias would cause more problems than it would solve, Tim repeated in his head, a few times, just as a reminder. No matter how much it would make Tim feel better. “Well then if you could just pass along the reminder that he is welcome to continue to stay in the Institute where he is sa-”

“Oh sorry you’re breaking up, can’t hear you,” Tim could feel the cheap plastic burning away as the phone ceased to function. It may have been very petty but the garbled annoyed tone he caught from Elias before the phone fully gave up was worth it. As was Jon’s small chuckle even if he attempted to muffle it and feigning disapproval. Tim let the mess of plastic drip into the waste bin, “Well now you can’t stay here, melting plastic fumes can’t be good for the lungs.”

“Putting aside the fact that breathing is rather optional these days, as I said before I couldn’t impose, it’s fine I’m fine, you can go.” Said by someone who clearly wasn’t fine. Jon clearly thinking the conversation was over tapped the singed papers into a proper stack as he cleared his throat. Tim heard the standard click of a recorder starting and Jon’s voice dropped into the cadence it always took when reading a statement, static bubbling up. Completely oblivious to the world as the statement took hold.

Tim definitely wasn’t going to leave Jon here now, alone. Not with how much he had sounded like a kicked puppy behind forced professionalism, and not with Elias still in the building. Was that a bit possessive of him? Sure, but Jon was his. Tim knew from prior experience trying to stop Jon reading, short of something drastic like torching the paper wouldn’t interrupt him, well that worked for him didn’t it? Jon’s cadence didn’t falter as Tim carefully lifted him into his arms, his only movement was to keep the paper in front of his eyes, oblivious to the world.

“Let’s get you home.”
