Because he’s a dog, or a kitten, or just an unspecified Pet. He should flop on his back and they should coo over him and say how cute he is, aw, when did you get him? How’d you get him this well trained? He used to be so bitey, awww, look at him now! Couldn’t hurt a fly! Sooo sweet now <333 they should press toys against him so casually like it’s completely normal. Have him eat them out while they have a normal conversation, apologizing for moaning because “sorry, he’s a little enthusiastic” and they laugh and pet his hair and he’s so loved and special and doesn’t have to do anything but just wander around and go wherever he’s called,,,,
