*whispers* What if we take Jon who was the child of divorce in the Elias, Gertrude hell polycule, until Elias killed her.
(Which is a whole layer of fucked up but not the point of this post.)
And that same Jon is now in the divorced hell polycule with Helen and Elias.
Something about Jon begging while he’s being opened up and fucked. He grabs onto Elias when he says something rude to Helen whimpering for Elias not to take away his mum again.
Do you see the trauma there?
Actually yeah thinking about season 2 now if we keep the Gertrude/Jon/Elias divorced polycule. Jon maybe knowing intellectually his mum is dead, because there was a lot of blood. Though part of him hopes she was just faking it, thought that means she abandoned him instead, either way not good.
Then he gets confirmation that his mother was murdered, and probably not by a monster. Jon being so certain he’s next and too paranoid to even get to mourn properly. Nobody but Elias knows what their relationship actually was so no one else gets that that was his mum. Going to Elias to cry and not knowing that the person he’s crying to is the one who did this to him.
When Leitner says it was probably Elias, Jon defending him because no that’s his dad he wouldn’t.
During the ‘confrontation’ when Elias admits it? Admits that he took away Jon’s mum, and his excuse was she was going to destroy the Archives? Jon not even able to do anything because part of him, the monstery part is horrified at the thought of his Archives being destroyed. Jon wanting to go to Elias for comfort but he can’t because wouldn’t that be wrong?
Jon locking himself in his office to cry, and mourn his mum.
Jon clinging to Helen at times, so scared he’s going to lose her too. It’s less likely she’s a monster and very much not easy to kill. Of course Jon thought the sane of Gertrude who always seemed like a solid fixture in his life.
Until she wasn’t.
Probably also doesn’t help that his actual parents died when he was young, and suddenly.
Jon waking up from the few times he gets to have his own nightmares begging Elias not to take his mom away again. Helen reassuring Jon that she won’t leave him, even if she is a liar.
Just Jon having the most trauma.
Thinking about former intern now assistant Jon being Gertrude’s one remaining assistant, following her around like a little duckling. Elias figuring that Jon can get some experience before he’s promoted and if he distracts Gertrude that’s even better.
Jon being used as a chew toy between the two of them. Elias calling Jon into his office and fucking him over his desk, asking him what Gertrude has him doing. Of course Gertrude actually tells him nothing important, so it’s not really helpful, even if Jon shares everything knows. Still Elias calls him a good boy, tells him his performance review went well and sends him back to the Archives.
Gertrude interrogating him in her office, fingering him till he doesn’t even notice the answers are being yanked out of him. Or that he’s telling her everything Elias did to him in his office. She plays it off as a performance review as well, telling him he has done adequate. She lets him eat her out as a reward for being a good little distraction even if he does t know that’s what he is.
Gertrude telling Jon nothing because she doesn’t know what Elias’s plan is for him. She tries her best not to get attached, but it’s hard, and she’s often harsh with him in her frustration. Jon just trying to do better, which only makes everything more complicated.
Gertrude not telling Jon what was going to happen, hoping he isn’t as connected to the institute as her and he’ll be okay keeping his eyes, but willing to sacrifice him if necessary. Even if he is her boy, it’s the world. She sends him out of the institute at least, on a job, hoping to keep him out of it.
Elias digging into that little fact, telling her that it would have killed Jon, but it’s okay he’s going to take good care of his son with Gertrude out of the way.
Elias comforting Jon when he gets back to find his mum missing probably dead, the only one who understands. Everyone else just thinks he lost a boss, not that he lost something much more.
