The most painful thing anout Jon is how un-werewolfable he is. He should have agonizing, hellish transformations every month. He should have strange new instincts he struggles to reign in (bite Elias bite Elias bite Elias good mate yes bite Elias claim Elias make him yours-) and he should have this huge horrible secret he’s struggling to understand and also just when he thinks he finally has a handle on things he should go into heat.

Just. Just imagine it. Jon who has no frame of reference for any of this. Feeling an unexpected surge of not just arousal but sexual desire, for maybe the first time in his life. Confused and horrified and humiliated. Needing to call out of work because he’s so confused and distracted, helpless to do anything but touch himself all day. Maybe Elias swings by that evening, just to check on him, of course. Jon opening the door flushed and barely clothed and wide-eyed and Elias is right there and he smells so good and Jon just isn’t thinking anymore. Is dragging him in and tearing off his clothes and kissing him because his hormones are going wild and everything is new and strange and exciting and he just needs to be bred, to be filled with Elias’ litter, and-

I was thinking about why I prefer fledgling/maker relationship over vampire/human despite the latter often having the human be turned by their lover. and of course it’s because they are about different things. for the turning evens the playing field, for the other it creates enormous power imbalance. what I enjoy about maker/fledgling relationships is the power imbalance, the difference in experience. the fledging struggling with self control and being forced to rely on their maker (if they are present and reliable, that is)
