My favourite piece of TMA canon that no one ever discusses is the fact that Elias has canonically watched at least a little bit of ghost hunt YouTube. Even Martin can’t believe it.

Jon is a thin Indian man with a trimmed beard, and long, greying dark hair that is pulled up in a bun. He is wearing a maroon shirt. Martin is a fat white man with short red hair and stubble. His glasses are pushed up to rest on the top of his head. He is wearing a green sweater with an intricate geometric pattern. End ID]
This isn’t anything major, just me re-listening to scene and realising stuff in hindsight.
On first listen, Elias’ reaction is solely stemming from his frustration with Martin and the burning of the statements. I imagine it wouldn’t have felt good, being as is it directly goes against all he, as an avatar of the Eye, stands for — destruction of knowledge and all that.
But, on second listen, his reaction is far more personal. Martin has unknowingly hit a bullseye with that statement, being as it was a letter to Jonah, and we have evidence of him being the sentimental sort, as with Barnabas’ bones. The little ‘oh’ is hard to hear, but it is there, and it’s definitely his reaction to the statement. The deep breath he takes after could, again, be frustration, but it could also be interpreted as him composing himself, preventing anything else from slipping through the cracks.
nothing personal but this kind of comment rlly exemplifies to me a disconnect between canon and popular fanon jmart characterization because they almost literally had this conversation in canon - except, their lines are swapped!

jon, for all his scared grouchiness, is a secret romantic, while martin, for all his forced optimism, is at his core a pragmatist
dearest followers i regret to inform you that thinking with my cunt has once again led me perilously and irretrievably deep into a vast system of underground tunnels
I know he’s kind of a polarizing character, but I have to say, Elias Bouchard truly is Iconic. When you hear the twist of “the boring middle manager was actually secretly an evil eldritch monster the whole time!” you sort of assume that the boring middle manager persona was just a facade, but no, he really does seem to just enjoy dull administrative work. He’s both exactly as boring as he seems on the surface and profoundly fucked up in ways you couldn’t imagine. He’s practically omniscient and playing 4-D chess with everyone, but he responds to even slight hiccups in his elaborate scheme with acts of extreme violence. He beats an old man to death with a metal pipe and when someone brings it up later he goes, “Yeah I may have overreacted there.” His employees are constantly trying to murder him. He broke out of prison just so he could give a dramatic monologue. He had a weird gay thing going on with seemingly every man he met in the past 200 years. He loves scheduling.

“team archives” consists of all those bastards (jon, martin, tim, sasha, melanie, daisy, basira) and let’s just agree theyre at like…s3 era characterization (s1 for sasha obvi) IT ALSO INCLUDES ELIAS ! (and vice versa, the oiar gang includes lena)
there’s no eldritch power bullshit, this is for the pure sport of finding out which of them would do worse if put into an escape room as a corporate team building exercise im putting the psychic powers on a shelf
I’d actually made and finished an entire other jonelias button design, but I decided that I hated it and instead did this one in a day lmao (bless you super best friends omikron lets play for the company)
[ID: A Magnus Protocol comic with red accents. Alice, Gwen, Sam, and Celia go “Oh. Shit,” as they come across a trail of many tape recorders clicking themselves on in a corridor. The tapes lead to a figure whose face is surreal and full of eyes.
The gang turns to run, Alice shouting, “We need to get out of here– now!” and Sam shouting, “Celia, come on!” He shakes her and continues calling for her, but Celia continues to stare at the figure. She asks, “J– Jon– Jonathan Sims? Is that you?” Everyone stares at the figure, who stares back.
Alice and Gwen exchange confused glances while Sam uneasily asks, “That Jonathan guy, again?” Celia continues, “It’s me, Celia– from the, the tunnels, with Melanie? Do you know who I–?!” The others look on with horror as Celia gasps, her speech bubbles going from red to green as the figure emits an aura and she’s forced to say, “I– I remem.. I rem… I remember the sky splitting open.” End ID]
I’ve seen somewhere a headcanon (or maybe that was a fic???) that gerry should’ve known (maybe even in a friendly manner) other fear avatars and I Loved It
