Because Jon would be in full “I can’t sleep next to Martin! He’s suspicious!” mode and end up in some stupid self-inflicted scenario where he was sleeping in the elevator or on the roof.

Then meanwhile Martin would be back in the room going: “Its nice of him to let me have the bed. He can be a lot more considerate than he lets on sometimes.”
