hi, this might be a weirdly-phrased question bc i was looking through ur art at like 11pm and holy shit !!! it's so pretty. but I was wondering how do you draw so,, static-y?? like I love how you draw Lonely martin and how those backgrounds end up looking like something from a broken tv,, is that a certain filter or do u dot it by hand?? I've been looking through some filters in my drawing app but cant find anything :/

[ID: the image is a diagram, including two colored illustrations of Martin Blackwood from The Magnus Archives. The the second having a slight 3d effect, light static, and differently-toned colors. It includes screenshots from Procreate and little notes. end ID]
thank you both so much!!!! that’s so sweet- really helps me get through the week <3 <3 <3
Here’s a little guide on how I do effects! I don’t really have, like, a set method, I mostly just fuck around and find out what looks good. Also! I set my line-art to “soft light” and duplicate, doing a slight blur on one and lowering the opacity. makes it a bit softer.
I would go into the whole ‘gradient map’ bit more, but it’s a lot and would require it’s own post.
I used to do 3d effects by hand. Although, I have forgotten how I did it, so sorry if this isn’t of any help no any non-procreate users out there.
