Peter Lukas is so fascinating to me. Like, his entire statement reeks. “Oh my childhood wasn’t actually very bad” “I’m so well adjusted and fine” “I just happened to be the only one of my siblings who suited the Lonely”. Shut UP dude. It’s not lying, clearly, because he was compelling, but it doesn’t have to be purposeful manipulation to be untrue. This man is so deeply disconnected from himself and his childhood that he really truly believes there’s no way that his childhood was traumatizing in any way.
I don’t care if his bloodline are avatars, they are all still human avatars, not freaky monsters. He is human, or he once was human and he was a little boy who never knew comfort and watched his brother and sister get taken away forever and so he made himself as small and quiet as possible because he was Afraid and That is why the Lonely chose him.
Drifting from my usual fixations, I am suddenly possessed with thoughts about the James Wright era of Jonah Magnus. There’s so much there. I’ve spoken extensively to some people about parallels between Peter and both Mordechai and Barnabas, and I feel that this time period is particularly interesting on that front.
I am of the opinion that, by the time we meet him in canon, Peter is no longer capable of maintaining any kind of meaningful connections, even with Jonah. But, as a young man? He’s positively smitten with James, as much as he is avoidant of it. Jonah thrives with such attention, of course, but it’s bittersweet in a way he only dares to explore in the most private corners of his mind. The Lukas heir has a striking resemblance to Mordechai, in a way that sometimes makes his stomach turn unpleasantly, yet his actions and temperament remind him so much more of his Barnabas.
Watching him grow more and more like Mordechai as time goes on and he grows more faithful to the Lonely. Jonah knowing that this… whatever they have feeds the Lonely in a way that would give Mordechai a disgusting level of satisfaction, but not having it within him to put any more distance between them than he is forced to.
Controversial post probably but I am so sick of seeing people who claim to be pro-para but specifically ‘call-out’ and talk shit on the 'big three’. If you are pro-para or you claim to be a safe space for paraphiles, yet you specifically exclude people who you think are gross and bad just for existing, without taking their actions into account, then you are NOT pro-para. And guess what! If you’re a perfect, wholesome, and moral objectophile or something, people who are anti-para will still say you’re secretly a fucking pedophile or whatever, because they don’t fucking care how good and nice your paraphilia is, it’s still a paraphilia and therefore wrong and evil.
Another thing that pisses me off so much is people saying they are anti-contact for specifically the big three.
It is so simple to just say you’re anti-contact for paraphilias with real life consequences rather than only saying the 'big three’. The only reason you feel the need to single out whatever the fuck you consider to be the monolithic 'big three’ Evil Paraphilias and the whole reason that the concept exists is because even in a social space where you claim to be accepting of people, there always has to be somebody to point at and say “Well, I’m not that bad, at least I’m not THAT guy!”.
There are plenty of paraphilias that would be just as harmful to act upon as those ones, but because those are the ones that normies constantly single out and hate on, it is easy to jump onto the bandwagon.
And you know what, I am aware that this is nitpicky and probably comes off as whiny and bitchy, but I really am sick of it. You sound like those fucking LGB without the T people. You do not have to support all paraphiles, but if you are disgusted by someone simply because their socially unacceptable attraction is not as morally acceptable as yours, then you cannot call yourself pro-para.
Number 1 thing I’ve found that motivates me to read is reading out loud to my cat like I’m giving a speech. It’s great fun I highly recommend.
